White House says it contacted candidate about jobs

WASHINGTON – The White House faced fresh questions over back-room dealmaking after acknowledging that one of President Barack Obama's top advisers encouraged a Colorado Democrat to apply for an international development job instead of challenging the candidate whom the president favored in a Senate race.

The aide "wanted to determine if it was possible to avoid a costly battle between two supporters," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement Thursday.

Romanoff on Wednesday night released a copy of an e-mail in which White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina described three federal international development jobs that might be available to him if he were not challenging Bennet for the Democratic Senate nomination.

how many more excuses are uber democratic party hacks going to make?

It's purely monetary. If nominations/elections can be determined by giving away job opportunities, jobs that belong to the electorate, then the party can save money it would spend in support of its candidates, and use it where it is needed most which expands its elected officeholders.

This process seems awfully like selling elective offices, which is a lot like what Gov Blago of Illinois was attempting to do with Obama's Senate seat. This has long been a part of Chicago politics. This trial of Blago, and his willingness to call witnesses is going to (or should) attract attention to this ugly practice (but will the MSM now ignore Blago now?).

This is what the rule of law is all about, and it is annulled when it's ok to pass laws, then ignore them if they are inconvenient because “it's always been done.” That's the reason to pass laws in the first place; because there’s a problem of people illegally gaming the system, with the equivalent of bribes.

Our Congress seems to pass a lot of laws they have no intention of seeing enforced, like immigration laws, Pay-go laws, election laws. ...

2 wars, record debt and deficits, our AAA credit rating about to go away, blatantly lied about the cost of ObamaCare but Obama's not too busy to find time to bribe Congressmen.

Terrific.

Maybe General McCrystal can pretend to run against a Democrat to get Obama to spent more time with him?
