The White House on Friday all but refused to turn over the documents House Republicans have subpoenaed on bankrupt solar firm Solyndra, firing off a letter saying the request would put an "unreasonable burden on the president's ability to meet his constitutional duties."
The feisty response appears to set up a clash between congressional investigators and the White House over the sprawling probe into Solyndra's finances and the administration's involvement in the decision to provide the struggling company a $528 million loan with taxpayer money.

We're on the road to impeachment. IMHO that izzzz.

Solndra and the other solar power green crap that's failing is a major problem for this president. It's time to look into other ways to get cheap energy on the large scale. The E-cat cold fusion within the science area, I posted is a good idea, if we can get that working. Normal fusion, which we have gotten to work, but haven't stablized is even better, but needs more work. These two area's are far better then solar or wind could ever dream of being.

It's also time to stop bankrolling Incompetents and Charlot-ens with tax dollars.

"the most transparent administration in our history"

Sure....my ass.

Really? Isn't answering such things valid under LAW, and isn't upholding the LAW part of his 'Constitutional duties'?:eusa_whistle:

I see a stonewall.

I see a stonewall.

answering legitimate subpoenas is required. one can always move to quash a subpoena that overreaches or is illegal or improper.

you see nothing different than EVERY president does. you would have defended the last one to the nth degree for the same thing. how 'bout you wait for the court to act before you all shrieking meemies lose your minds, mmmmkay?

Ironical president is ironic.

Dopey President is now technically impeachable.

nope. not hardly.

as for subpoenas, certainly you believe this white house should be able to avail itself of the same protections as the last administration's, no?

it's not like they outed a CIA agent, after all. now THAT is an impeachable offense.

Except they didn't. Armatige admitted to doing it and absolutely nothing was done to him and no evidence ever presented Cheney told him to do it.

Yeah, it's overboard to question ILLEGAL connections between White House staffers and these corrupt green companies that are STEALING millions from the taxpayers when we are already bankrupt.

What a piece of shit.....

Obama authorizes millions to companies that suddenly go bankrupt and more millions to Companies run by relatives of his staff. Why ever would anyone suspect a problem with that?

How so?

Can't the President designate his papers as being protected and safe from public viewing?

In quickly reviewing my thoughts on that I found this. Seems in 1978 Congress passed a law declaring those papers to be the property of the American people and in 2002 President Bush signed an Executive Order allowing him to protect documents.

IN 1978 Congress passed "The Presidential Records Act" declaring that the papers of presidents belong to the American public. On Nov. 1 2002 President Bush suddenly issued an executive order that gives himself the power to seal presidential records as far back as 1980. Because all classified documents are protected from public scrutiny no one in the Bush administration has been able to offer a reasonable explanation for this excessive use of executive privilege. Some journalists and historians believe that the president seeks to protect members of his administration some of whom worked in his father's inner circle from their critical eyes.

Of course, since President Obama believes so much in transparency, he would never ever classify those documents. Would he?

Immie

Obamination, Holder and Chu should go to jail after the next election for criminal activity around these dirty "green" handouts and Operation Fast & Furious.

Exclusive Timeline: Bush Administration Advanced Solyndra Loan Guarantee for Two Years, Media Blow the Story | ThinkProgress

It’s often claimed that the Solyndra loan guarantee was “rushed through” by the Obama Administration for political reasons. In fact, the Solyndra loan guarantee was a multi-year process that the Bush Administration launched in 2007.
You’d never know from the media coverage that:
The Bush team tried to conditionally approve the Solyndra loan just before President Obama took office.
The company’s backers included private investors who had diverse political interests.
The loan comprises just 1.3% of DOE’s overall loan portfolio. To date, Solyndra is the only loan that’s known to be troubled.

So are you going out on the limb there, jilly, and positing the legal proposition that it is somehow not a violation of law to refuse to honor a Congressional Subpoena?

A President cannot classify ALL Presidential documents. Such was NOT the nature of the Bush Administration Executive Order, either.

And no President can claim for himself (or for his or her Administration) the unilateral authority to determine which papers come under the umbrella of state secrets.

Furthermore, of course, even if the President COULD unilaterally make such determinations as a first order of business, no Executive Branch could (under our Constitutional framework) thereby deny the ability of Congress to oversee such matters.
