First...there is this....

Fact Check, Gun Control and Suicide

There is no relation between suicide rate and gun ownership rates around the world.

According to the 2016 World Health Statistics report, (2) suicide rates in the four countries cited as having restrictive gun control laws have suicide rates that are comparable to that in the U. S.: Australia, 11.6, Canada, 11.4, France, 15.8, UK, 7.0, and USA 13.7 suicides/100,000. By comparison, Japan has among the highest suicide rates in the world, 23.1/100,000, but gun ownership is extremely rare, 0.6 guns/100 people.

Suicide is a mental health issue. If guns are not available other means are used.

Poisoning, in fact, is the most common method of suicide for U. S. females according to the Washington Post (34 % of suicides), and suffocation the second most common method for males (27%).

Secondly, gun ownership rates in France and Canada are not low, as is implied in the Post article. The rate of gun ownership in the U. S. is indeed high at 88.8 guns/100 residents, but gun ownership rates are also among the world’s highest in the other countries cited. Gun ownership rates in these countries are are as follows: Australia, 15, Canada, 30.8, France, 31.2, and UK 6.2 per 100 residents. (3,4) Gun ownership rates in Saudia Arabia are comparable to that in Canada and France, with 37.8 guns per 100 Saudi residents, yet the lowest suicide rate in the world is in Saudia Arabia (0.3 suicides per 100,000).

Third, recent statistics in the state of Florida show that nearly one third of the guns used in suicides are obtained illegally, putting these firearm deaths beyond control through gun laws.(5)

Fourth, the primary factors affecting suicide rates are personal stresses, cultural, economic, religious factors and demographics.

According to the WHO statistics, the highest rates of suicide in the world are in the Republic of Korea, with 36.8 suicides per 100,000, but India, Japan, Russia, and Hungary all have rates above 20 per 100,000; roughly twice as high as the U.S. and the four countries that are the basis for the Post’s calculation that gun control would reduce U.S. suicide rates by 20 to 38 percent.

Lebanon, Oman, and Iraq all have suicide rates below 1.1 per 100,000 people--less than 1/10 the suicide rate in the U. S., and Afghanistan, Algeria, Jamaica, Haiti, and Egypt have low suicide rates that are below 4 per 100,000 in contrast to 13.7 suicides/100,000 in the U. S.

Yes...and we have all the options we need to stop criminals when they are caught using illegal guns. The extra measures? They don't stop criminals or mass shooters...but anti gunners want them because they want to slowly ban access to guns.

We aren't just talking Jewish deaths...we are talking all non war deaths, from Europeans handing over their people to the socialists..... The number varies on who is doing the counting.....and still, even with your number...6 million people murdered.....and they were disarmed by their own governments.....long before the murder happened...that is why we won't give up our rifles or pistols.

Except in Japan, and South Korea, and many of the countries in Europe where they don't use guns and have higher suicide rates than we do...guns are not the issue in suicide.....in fact, for the last two years, non gun suicide has outnumbered gun suicide in this country......

The US government has tried to ban guns and confiscate guns before.

Suicide is not an issue which concerns me. If people want to kill themselves I want them to do it efficiently and in a manner which won't traumatize a train crew or some ppl walking next to a high rise or whatever. Hell, I'd be fine with "suicide rooms" in churches or whatever as long as it was voluntary. Being for small government I feel no need to regulate ppl's decision to die.

And the left always goes straight to massive government abuse and how lowly, backwoods rubes would never be able to confront it....

How about when the government simply steps back, and allows one group of people to abuse, rape, and murder another group....as happened after the civil war, when the democrat terror arm, the ku klux klan, attacked the freed slaves and their Republican allies.......or during riots by democrats in our major cities where they loot and burn and kill other citizens....?

There isn't a major government mass murder event...but the government has stepped back and either can't, or won't stop the violence....or they actively particiapte in it....as happened in the genocide in Rwanda, and happens in Mexico as the drug cartels..with their police and military allies, murder unarmed Mexican citizens in the 10s of thousands every year....

From the era when the democrats were hanging black men from trees to keep them from accessing their freedom....

The only times an Afro-American who was assaulted got away has been when he had a gun and used it in self-defense.

“A Winchester rifle should have a place of honor in every black home, and it should be used for that protection which the law refuses to give.”

And more on Ida B. Well....and guns.....

Negroes and the Gun: A Winchester “in every Black home” - The Washington Post

    And more.....

    Ida B. Wells - Wikipedia

In this period at the turn of the century, southern states starting with Mississippi in 1890, passed laws and/or new constitutions to disenfranchise most black people and many poor white people through use of poll taxes, literacy tests and other devices.

Wells-Barnett recommended that black people use arms to defend against lynching:

The lesson this teaches and which every Afro-American should ponder well, is that a Winchester rifle should have a place of honour in every black home, and it should be used for that protection which the law refuses to give.

When the white man who is always the aggressor knows he runs as great a risk of biting the dust every time his Afro-American victim does, he will have greater respect for Afro-American life. The more the Afro-American yields and cringes and begs, the more he has to do so, the more he is insulted, outraged and lynched.[23]
