Where, oh where, did the War Protests go??????

Barack Obama accused of crimes against humanity for Osama bin Laden killing - Telegraph

Serious question. I remember from 2004-2006, there were several large War Protests here in Charleston, SC at the downtown Marion Square. Thousands showed up. I remember the media splashing our screens with shots of very large war protests in NYC, SF, Chicago, LA, and on and on and on. VERY emotional protests. Signs with Bush painted as Hitler. "No War For Oil" signs. "Spread Love Not War". Code Pink. You all remember those days, right? Before war was cool?

Where did those protests go? We are still in Iraq. And we are still in Afghanistan. We've started a new conflict by bombing the possum poop out of Libya. We not only used bomber drones in Pakistan, but literally invaded Pakistan without that gov'ts permission with a SEAL team to kill Bin Laden. Now, rumors of operations in Syria and Iran are rampant. To Obama's credit, I'm ok with bombing Syria and Pakistan. And finishing the job in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But I can't help but wonder....all those people who protested the 2 wars from 2002-2008.....where are they now protesting the 4 we're in today? The only mobs I see are the Tea Party rallies, the Union whacks, no-border rallies, and an anarchist/G20 type rally here and there.

But no war protests. Did I miss something? Or did war become cool all of a sudden sometime in early 2009?

We've all but left Iraq and announcements to leave Afghanistan were announced.

Yes, you missed a whole lot of stuff.

I think we are talking about two different groups.

Yup, there were oppurtunists who saw the wars going badly as a reason to bash Bush (but Bush opened that door by dithering, refusing to fire generals who weren't getting results, not committing enough troops, etc.)

And these are guys like the mutant who writes the Daily Kos, who condemned the Iraq war from day one, but calls Libya a "moral imperative". (Like we have a stake in who wins a war between Islamic Fundementalists and Islamic Socialists.)

There are also people like Michael Moore and Code Pink, who've been pretty consistently (wrong) on their opposition to any war.

Yes, you missed a whole lot of stuff.

We still have over 100,000 men in Iraq, and Obama also announced that he was shutting down Gitmo 3 years ago.

Your claims are pure fiction and delusion, in other words.

Drones will believe whatever their master tells them to believe.

Yeah, but, the question still stands. Where did all the war protesters go? It ain’t like the wars are won or, for that matter, even over.

So, where did they go?

The man who started these wars, and his party, was voted out of power. This is the greatest protest of all. Now another person is being given a chance.

You know, I kind of suspected that was the case.

Those protest were really only feigned indignation from a bunch of liars whose sole motive was advancing their political party to power and they really had nothing at all to do with any principled stand of “being against war”.

So, I guess that answer to the OP’s question is: their insatiable thirst for power has been quenched and they have crawled back into their hidey-holes.

Your reading comprehension is lacking.

Protests are still going on...

It's not like they EVER got any kind of press. Fox covers 15 people that show up for a tea bagger rally, but not the hundreds that show up for an anti-war rally.

They're still around but the media is no longer interested.

It'll be the same as Bush, most of his warmongering went totally unquestioned by the media until about his 6th year, which is the same I predict for Obama.

If this is an attack on democrats you've chosen the wrong path, Obama campaigned on increasing warmongering and killing people no matter what arab country they were in and got cheers from the democrats.

Both parties are war hungry and hellbent on destroying people and countries, and for the most part they've gotten their sheeple to conform to their views.

You with the side that was against killing Osama Bin Laden?

Well here in NYC we had a party after that fucker was offed.

And if I could piss on his grave..I'd do it on a yearly basis.

But sorry your hero is dead. But you are in good company..conservatives like Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush gave that fucker money.

They have almost weekly protests of the ongoing wars in Union Square.

Before the Iraq invasion there was a protest I attended that drew 250,000 people in NYC. That barely was covered..by anyone. Cheney was asked about that as well..that nearly 60% of the American public was against the invasion..and he said that the administration doesn't govern on the basis of polls.

You forgot Jimmy Carter did too, but you have to have the ability to forget things on purpose to be a good partisan these days.

As we see the anti-war protesters were full of shit.

They weren't anti-war, they were ANTI-BUSH.

Now that the NOBEL PEACE Prize winner President is the warmonger, war is COOL:lol:

And these same people are now calling the Tea Party, extremist.

think about it folks

I agree, it's too bad these days if you're against warmongering in principle, you're on the fringe.

Kudos to P-R campaign to the 2 parties, we'll literally cheer anything now.

He never had confirmation that a target was actually OBL. When they did get confirmation, they missed him by a few minutes.
