Where is Obama and fema in Tenn.

I lived in Nashve for 20 years, have been back in my home state only 3 years, and am still VERY tied to Nashville.

Nashville is fine. It is not New Orleans. People there have a work ethic and the government housing projects were vastly unaffected. There have been very few incidents of crime secondary to the flood, people are helping one another out and getting it back together. There is actually some optimism that the economy will get a boost from all the money that is going to be coming in from insurance, grants, etc. for reconstruction.

Most Nashvillians I know don't really want Obama there. Why would they, they are not his constituents. The governor, Phil Bredesen, has secured the needed federal help and the Nashville that I know is just as glad not to have to deal with Obama in additon to the flood. Let it go and let them count their blessings!

Bredesen is a Democrat who endorsed Obama over Hillary in the 2008 primaries.

Obama carried Davidson County (Nashville) with 60% of the vote.

You've either never been near Nashville, or you're a fucking retard.

Oh well, then he must be a Fascist/Marxist lieu, of course.

It's funny how I could know more about Nashville politics in five minutes than someone who CLAIMS she lived there 20 years, and I've never been within a thousand miles of the place.

Why do conservatives have such a contempt for the truth? Is that an inherited or learned behaviour?

He knowsw that the people of the great State of Tennessee are too proud to accept a government handout from a socialist.

He doesn't want to insult them

Remember after Katrina when the wingnuts had to tell us about all the white people in Florida who'd been hit by hurricanes and didn't need or want any federal money, because, well, there was just something about them that made them different...

Fund raising events within the city itself started last week. My guess is that the city will raise its own funding for most of the damage.

My guess is you're wrong. Most of it will come from insurance companies, state, and federal government.

The losses so far are estimated to be 1.5B

The federal government has pledged 4M.

Nashville swamped with $1.5B damage - BostonHerald.com

The people of Nashville had already raised 1.5M by May 4, waters weren't even receding at the time.

This is only ONE of the events that have already been held. Most homeowners were uninsured for flood damage. Government grants will come nowhere near covering them all. As previously stated I know one entrepreneur who has lost 4M...the total amount pledged by the government. He will most likely sustain the entire loss, as will many people there.

The teet of big government is always slow to descend. I'll keep you informed...

Is it because they are mostly white and didn't vote and probally not supporting him in the 2012 election the reason he is not helping these poor people? He hasn't even been there yet. If this was Bush this would be the top news story in the liberal run media!!!!
Gee.....imagine that....."conservatives" beggin' & cryin' for help....from "big-government"http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#37006668.

Maybe you should give Lil' Dumbya a call. He's always been quite the lil' pitch-man for "boot-straps"!!

See what I mean?....There weren't enough little victims sitting on their roofs, squealing for Big Daddy Big Gubmint to come bail them out.

But that still doesn't 'splain why one of Boyking's minions couldn't find some soaked little waif to exploit.

I have a good feeling that are a good number of those "squealing for Big Daddy Big Gubmint" are the same ones who want the Federal Government get rid of everything. :eusa_whistle:

Obama would call that "typical white behavior" on your part

It is Bush' fault, he has a flood machine
C'mon....things worked perfectly, for "conservatives"!!!!

"Even so, conservatives like President George W. Bush, his Republican allies in Congress, his intellectual strategists like Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and William Kristol of the Weekly Standard, and the corporate-sponsored policy wonks at the American Enterprise Institute, Cato Institute, and the Heritage Foundation argue that (with the exception of military spending) we need to further reduce government, in large part by cutting taxes even more, especially for the very rich. They call this "starving the beast," reducing taxes so much that government in general, and the federal government in particular, will be virtually paralyzed.

With the Katrina disaster, these conservatives got what they were looking for. When it was needed most, government was paralyzed, and for the past two weeks we've been watching the consequences on television."

The federal government has now pledged $28 million, and the personally responsible self sufficient Tennesseeans are sticking their hands out asking for me.
“Tennesseans are helping themselves and their neighbors, but Tennessee will require federal assistance beyond what current emergency programs' funding can support,” the letter reads.
Some 18,000 Tennesseans have already registered for federal assistance, and more than $28 million worth of federal aid has been approved. So far, 42 Tennessee counties have been declared disaster areas. The maximum amount of dollars available to flood victims' families through FEMA is $29,900.

How personally responsible and self-sufficient of them!

So you think that someone who has lost everything and has no kind of coverage for it should just be kicked to the curb? Are you sure you aren't that welfare queen from another board who thought only people on welfare should get help?

Maybe you should do a little surfing around. No one is sitting on their ass waiting for you or anyone else to help. And here's a little FYI: there were 27 counties in TN affected. That doesn't include the ones in KY and Mississippi.

I would be there helping myself if I weren't laid up from a major operation.

Only if they're black and from New Orleans.

Of course not, they're already getting assistance!

And?

Where is alol the whining media people complaining that the help is not there? like theyt did in New Orleans. Typical to what happens when a dem is in charge,The democratic state run media ignores the problems if it makes the dems look bad!!!

I have said this once or twice but I will say it again - THE MAN IS AS USELESS AS TWO TITS ON A BOAR!

Nashville is doing OK. There were 27 counties in TN alone who had major losses. Not all of those counties are as economically sound as Nashville. I'm really proud of what was my home for 20 years.

Hands On Nashville

If they're doing OK why are they begging the feds for more money?

I'm not sure why you keep bringing up the number of counties. Do you know how many counties in Louisiana were affected by Katrina?

I think it's safe to say that Obama is a racist.

We sure did hear that plenty about Bush when Katrina came...

ZERO, Louisiana doesn't have counties.
