That's an outstanding book. Goldberg makes an excellent point-It's highly doubtful that these idiots wake up in the morning thinking, "How am I going to slant the news today?" They are simply saying what sounds entirely reasonable to them. All the friends they talk to at their Manhattan cocktail parties agree with them- so it must be right. They are hopelessly out of touch with ordinary Americans, and are in real danger of preaching themselves into irrelevance.
One journalist (I forget her name) actually said this after the 1972 presidential election-one of the most lopsided landslides in American history:
"I can't believe Nixon won. I don't know anybody who voted for him".
