Where did the word Nazi come from?

You know...having been raised in the 50s/60s, I was surrounded by older adults who had lived thru WWII and the Nazis. Nobody ever tried to connect the Nazis with the Left, or Socialists or even the dreaded Communists. Everyone understood they were the exact opposite.

Suddenly, within the last few years we have lots of people trying very hard to convince us that black is white, that up is down, that Nazis were Leftists.

Now...why do YOU think they are trying so hard to do that?

Because they hate their fellow Americans.

So many people with useless interpretations and opinions on this thread. Hitler and the Nazis considered themselves to be loyal Socialists from the very beginning to the very end. Hitler was also vehemently Anti-Capitalism. Just go and do some real research and learn what Hitler himself wrote and said regarding this subject and many others. Just go to the source for God's sake. The Nazi Party was a Socialist Party and this is just fact. In fact i would say that what is currently going on in our country is eerily similar to what happened in Germany when the Nazis rose to power. Hitler and the Nazis took advantage of a disastrous economy and a humiliated German People. Barack Obama and his Socialists have taken over our country under very similar conditions. The similarities are actually pretty frightening. Opinions are nice and God knows everyone has one but it really is better to go and read what the actual people had to say about subjects. Hitler's writings and comments are out there for anyone who wants to take the time to learn facts and not just the usual repetitive interpretations and opinions. Read People! Read!

Stalin called his system democratic, do you think it was? Nazism is simply a more virulent form of fascism. It is of the right or conservative side of the political spectrum as it opposes liberalism and the individual and praises the nation and corporatism. Nationalism and corporatism are still evident today on the right in the conservative side of the republican party, and their opposition to several initiatives that support people. The conservatives object to anything that that helps the working person over the corporation, notice only their constant defense of walmart and their dislike of Unions.

This topic comes all the time as conservatives are unable to face the radical demonic side of their ideology. The following is a re-post as the right hides from itself once again. A serious question is when you really don't understand politics or political systems how is it you can understand anything. No wonder Bush Jr and Reagan failed the country so badly.

The revised Fascism is interesting as no respected historian would consider it anything but of the right. You appear underequipped to engage in such discussions. The FF were adamantly against corporations, that's what the Revolution was about. The monarchy as a corporation with a centralized economy bloating the throne and practicing colonialism to expand. They were expressly against nations building and spreading democracy. That's not our mandate. We WERE a self sustaining agrarian based sovereign. The whole idea of having states and states rights was for the purpose of keeping the Federal powers for a limited and centralized task: common defense of the laws that allow us to operate. As a matter of practicality, the Federal government is tasked with dealing with other sovereigns and asking for a consensus from the states to do certain things. It was not for the furtherance of centralized industries to squash the diverse and numerous enterprises so corporations could flourish.
