Where did republicans get the rap as racist when history says it was the demcrats?

History says that liberal were the racists. The left were the ones that preach anti-Semitism. The left are the ones that were pro-slavery. The left were the ones pro-segregation. It was the Democrat president Woodrow Wilson that said he understood the need for the KKK to protect victimized whites in the south. He re-segregated the federal government. He claimed segregation was a benefit to the colored people. People only write about Kennedy and Johnson brokering the civil rights bill but fail to mention it was the democrats in the senate that were creating the filibuster not the republicans. And it was actually Nixon that did more to desegregate the schools than any other president in history. No democrat supported the 15th amendment that allowed blacks to vote. It was the republicans that were anti-slavery. It was the Republican Abraham Lincoln that freed the slaves. So how is it exactly that the republicans get the accused of being racist?
Any chance you're from Texas.....where they (also) make-up more-convenient History?

:eusa_eh:

"The Democratic Party had been the bastion of white supremacy in the southern states since the end of Reconstruction, but this situation began to change during the New Deal. With President Franklin Roosevelt at the helm, the Democrats became the political organization of federal intervention in economic affairs. At the same time, the party became more receptive to the demands of African American voters, whose protest against southern segregation grew stronger, particularly during and after World War II. When the Democrats adopted a strong civil rights plank in 1948, party members from the Deep South bolted the National Convention and formed their own political movement, based on the philosophy of states’ rights and the maintenance of segregation in the former Confederacy."

Republicans in the north were members of the KKK, and today there are still Okies that are KKK supporters.
The KKK started as an anti-governmental terrorist tool, it did spead to the blacks via the Freedmens departmet oppression after the Civil War

They got that great Dem race rap from the same place people think FDR is "Great" McCarthy was on a "red Scare", lying Progressive media monopoly

And what is the recent history? What are you refering to? I'm looking for a real reason and not just because people say so. Actual facts.

It's the new 'democratic reality'. Fucking idiots believe it... because racism is a political weapon, not a social issue any more.

Because the GOP hav stood for limited government. Limited government (limited welfare) was used as a wedge issue and espoused to the poor, as them being against the poor. Dividing the poor into racial classifications then became easy. After a few generations of welfare dependence class and racial warfare during elections became such an entrenched and successful wedge, that it became part of the accepted mantra. Obama has taken it to new levels of class envy and hatred.

The facts are that welfare programs have done nothing to reduce poverty- in fact welfare has successfully kept generations of families stuck in their poverty.

Oh, one thing I didn't notice from the OP: "The left were the ones that preach anti-Semitism. The left are the ones that were pro-slavery. The left were the ones pro-segregation."

This is total horsehit. It amounts to confusing the Democratic Party with "the left," and that's a confusion that should always be avoided.

What's true is that part (not all) of the Democratic Party were pro-slavery and pro-segregation, while the Republican Party during the same times were solidly against both. But on those issues, at that time, what that means is that the Democrats (or that portion of them) were the right, and the Republicans were the left.

History gives us many examples of progressive Republicans, not just on the issue of racial equality -- until the 1960s the GOP was consistently progressive on that issue, and not conservative at all -- but on economic issues, too. Who was the greatest progressive politician of the so-called "Progressive Era" of the early 20th century? Theodore Roosevelt, whose trust-busting and labor activism and advocacy of national health care marks him as one of the first true modern liberals of any prominence. What party did he belong to? The Republican Party.

The equation of the GOP with "conservatism" is a fairly recent development. Throughout its early history, the Republican Party was the progressive party, not the conservative party. So just because some historical trend was championed by the GOP does NOT make it a "conservative" position. Go back a ways, and it probably makes it a liberal one.

In reality, however, it is the Left and the Democrat Party that has historically been the enemy of black Americans and freedom for all. Even today, liberals have little to offer black Americans except for pandering and quota systems that engineer reverse-discrimination.

"Buchanan's support isn't a one-way street. In addition to his bigoted rhetoric, Buchanan has appeared on a leading "pro-white" radio program twice; supported a prominent member of a leading white supremacist group; and has cited research from white nationalists in his work."

Look at how you guys treat Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain

If you say that they were treated the way they were because they are black, you're full of shit.

If you wish them held to a different political standard because they are black, that shows your own racist tendencies.
