Is Obama's America really what the American People want? I guess we'll see.

The problem is that many Americans who vote are not paying close enough attention to what is going on. I know far too many people who vote by the political commercials or based on what MSM tells them.

Digging deeper to know what is the truth and what is actually happening in Washington would require some effort of which most many people are not willing to put forth. There is reality TV to be watching and sound bytes to comprehend.

I agree and here's why. Whatever Obama meant; whatever his independent executive initiatives achieve or fail to enact, we...the citizenry at large--will be the last to know. That sums up my trepidation with back door moves like this seems to indicate. The powers that be rumble about the heavens, and we far down below often have less than a clue what's going down. I realize presidents have utilized their executive power countless times throughout most historical administrations. Like many other Americans, I am unclear exactly what said powers encompass or enable the "Chief" to do, and more importantly, how these actions are reckoned by our system of checks and balances. Maybe it's no big deal. Maybe it's all the fish in the sea?

The Executive Order was originally set up to work that way. Here's what the Constitution says about it:

Basis in US Constitution

US presidents have issued executive orders since 1789. Although there is no Constitutional provision or statute that explicitly permits executive orders, there is a vague grant of "executive power" given in Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution, and furthered by the declaration "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed" made in Article II, Section 3, Clause 5. Most Executive Orders use these Constitutional reasonings as the authorization allowing for their issuance to be justified as part of the President's sworn duties, the intent being to help direct officers of the US Executive carry out their delegated duties as well as the normal operations of the federal government: the consequence of failing to comply possibly being the removal from office.

The problem with this is how easily the original intent can be ignored and allows a president to do by fiat what he does not have legal authority to do.

Directing the EPA to restrict or prohibit private industry from doing certain things.
