Where are all the peaceful muslims?

Islam ITSELF creates people who have no problem with violence. It encourages violence against non-beleivers. How is the world going to attack a religion. The next meeting of world religious leaders outta be a doozy.

I think that it would be more appropriate to say that religion in general spawns violence. When people become locked into an absolutist mindset, anything can be justified in the name of their favorite deity or dogma.

That's a nice explanation. But it will no longer suffice going forward. The only ones who can identify "the groups - and the leaders - and the instigators" are the muslims themselves. They must stand up or be thrown out with the bad apples.

Okay. I can accept that, but still I think of a practising Musilm in the mid east as somewhat like... soviets. But in an even tighter spot. Their whole leadership is so linked with their outmost beliefs that they just can't see se political board they've been put on.

No one expected soviets to rise againt their opressors. And they didn't. Not until the right leader got to power. That scenario is very unlikley now, it's not one regime that needs to change.

My guess is that when enough bad apples have been thrown out, there will be some good apples left. (Is this Hope?)

He's a peaceful Muslim as is his father and mother. His father donates to charity and, if I recall correctly, even runs a charity to help people.

There's another Muslim I know at my school, don't know them personally, but I hear that he's a very nice person.

As a liberal, I must say that I've never had any doubts as to just what an utter failure socialism and its Marxist-Leninist antecedents are. A prosperous and peaceful society is a rational society. Human nature, being what it is, has yet to allow us to truly develop such a society.

There's more questions in this thread than answers. I gave my solution to the problem, but it's to simplistic.

There will NEVER be a way to end the violence, other than, the annihilation of ALL violent extremist muslims. They have been that way for thousands of years. It's what they believe and all they know.

So what it has come down to, and what it is, is they will either kill us, or we will kill them, and there's nothing complicated about that.

I do however realize that inside pulits liberal fog, even simple reasoning and logic isn't seen or understood.
