When Work Is Punished: The Tragedy Of America's Welfare State

In Entitlement America, The Head Of A Household Of Four Making Minimum Wage Has More Disposable Income Than A Family Making $60,000 A Year. But perhaps the scariest chart in the entire presentation is the following summarizing the unsustainable welfare burden on current taxpayers:

Snip

For every 1.65 employed persons in the private sector, 1 person receives welfare assistance.

For every 1.25 employed persons in the private sector, 1 person receives welfare assistance or works for the government.

The punchline: 110 million privately employed workers; 88 million welfare recipients and government workers and rising rapidly.

Snip

I would like to see evidence of the $9600 child care benefit claimed in that piece, please.

That revision was due in large part to an increase in government spending. That is not a reason to be thrilled. It does not indicate a healthy economy.

.

Lets contrast:

When work is punished vs When work is not rewarded

Because there are a shitload of filthy rich, fat, spoiled people in America. And there are an even HUGER number of peope who work their asses off, but cant seem to get to the next level in life.

I'll be damned if Im ever gonna feel sorry for someone who is making over 250K in America when they bitch about how they are "punished".

Third-Quarter GDP Growth Expanded To 2.7% For Lousy Reasons - Forbes

Peering further, you see that growth was driven by an accumulation of business inventories. This added nearly 30% of the growth. This should not excite. Inventory levels are prone to wild swings, however, and much of this recent build-up seems to come from a planned spurt from automakers like Ford and General Motors.

Another large portion of the third-quarter economic uptick (roughly 25%) came from a rare increase in government spending. Now, it’s pleasant to see government outlays increasing after large cuts in both federal and state budgets have limited activity. But it’s a short-lived increase, mostly from a burst of defense spending.

Already debunked this in the thread you started on it, troll

This was silly the first time someone started a thread on it.

What's your solution to the problem?

If mother on welfare can get a low wage job, but the cost of childcare wipes out whatever gain she makes by working,

why is it a bad idea to subsidize her childcare?

Children are expensive - don't have any if you can't afford them!

I posted this yesterday and people tried to tell me the numbers were wrong, yet no one was able to offer any proof.

Cronyism like Solyndra and GM?

I remember when 2.7% growth was considered bad news, now people are hailing it as a sign of the second coming.

That piece made no such claim.
