What is lying about is that it's an epidemic. MOST are bagged at or just after crossing illegally. And all but a couple you keep bringing up that are real bad actors go here with either education visas or some other kind of visa and they just overstayed their welcome. Some lie on their applications and fly commercial. Are you aware that the percent per capita of bad actors for illegal immigrants is very small when compared to the per capita to the American Born Citizen? This is not an epidemic.
Same goes for the drugs. Are you aware that a wall doesn't stop drugs crossing the border. In fact, it doesn't even slow it down. The easiest and cheapest way is to just toss the drug packets over the wall. But the real bulk is brought in either through commercial marine shipping, flown in or brought in by boats and mini subs. The trying to sneak it through a check point gets you caught. Trying to illegally cross the border means that you are carrying extra weight when you should be carrying extra water. The illegal border crossing drug transporting is such a small percent of the real drug trade it shouldn't even get a mention. Again, this is not an epidemic in illegal border crossings.
Here is a bit of info you are obviously either not aware of or are totally ignoring. In 2006, Pres Bush, Jr. signed into law (passed by the House and Senate) a law that states that X amount of dollars and effort had to go towards border security. And part of the Bill (law) was the building of X number of miles of wall each year. Pres Obama expanded on that amount. To date, there is 733 miles of wall built. Most was built under Pres Obama since by the time the system really started, Pres Bush didn't have that much time left in office. It's a law that X number of miles per year has to be built and X amount of funds must be used to expand Border Security in the form of boots on the ground and electronic sensors. And there was provisions for Wall and System maintenance. Do you how many miles that has been built in the last 2 years? Zero. And the maintenance has been left to go to pot in many out of the way places. You build a steel wall in an area that is not monitored, they bring Acetylene Cutting Torches and just cut through it. It may be days before it's discovered. And then it may be difficult lately to get the funds to repair it. The Wall, by itself, is worthless. It's more important to have the boots on the ground and the electronic measures where you can dispatch boots on the ground.
Let's see, Trump wants to build a 30 or a 50 foot wall that goes 10 feet under the ground as well. Let's say it's in an out of the way place like over 2000 miles of the "Wall" will be. It's made of Steel. Here are some things that will be sold on the Mexican Border to combat that.
1. Acetylene and Oxygen
2. 31 and 51 foot ladders
3. Wheel Barrows
4. Picks and Shovels
5. 2 by 4s
6. 100 foot nylon Ropes
If you can't go through it, you go over it. If you can't go over it, go under it. In San Diego alone, they are constantly finding tunnels every year. To date, they have found over 240 and know that more are on the way. These tunnels, many of them have lighting, ventilation, roadbeds where either cars and pickups can travel or narrow gauge railroad cars can operate on. These are not used for Illegal Immigrants. These are used for wholesale drug transports because each load comes in tons, not pounds. If you put a wall that goes 10 feet below, not to worry, most of these are at least 40 feet and shored up well. They go from a house on the Mexican Border to a house on the US side and come in the basement. The only way they can find these is to follow the drugs back to the source from the sale. Unless they have the right electronic sounding equipment which they can't afford.
Now, in many places that a wall doesn't make much sense, you can,
1. Place sound and vibration sensors that alert to send boots on the ground
2. More boots on the ground. With the Sensors, you might need a few every 10 miles or so that can respond within 15 minutes.Just how far can a tired, hot and person dying from lack of water get in 15 minutes. Make sure that both of these people are EMT qualified because they may be picking up a near death illegal immigrant.
3. USAF is releasing hundreds of really great observation drones. Not the little stuff the Army uses but the really big stuff that can cover thousands of miles in a day. These are surplus so it won't cost Homeland Security anything. One operator can operate multiple drones from anywhere on the face of the Globe. Again, working with boots on the ground, in the areas that even the sensors are either ineffective or unable to be placed, these become your eyes. USAF is getting rid of all their unarmed Recon Drones and going with armed drones.
Yes, in certain areas, the Wall makes sense. But if you look, most of those areas are already built and then some. The walls separating cities has walls already or some very good dense fencing and boots on the ground since this is also where the Immigration Centers are located at. There is a reason that the Border Mayors don't support the Trump Wall idea. It takes away money in maintaining the existing walls and other methods from them and spends it in areas that have almost zero traffic where sensors, drones and boots on the ground do a better job.
You should notice that the Caravans didn't go into the Desert or the Mountain regions where there is no way in hell that a group of people of 5000 could cross without a 95% death rate. They went to an area with an existing wall or really dense fencing and boots on the ground and tried to cross there. They were easily contained. Those weren't National Guards or Federal Troops that contained the initial thrust when they tried to come in mass, it was the Border Patrol that stopped them cold. Walls don't stop them but only slow them down. It's boots on the ground that stops them.
