then had the 1979 Chicken Bowl soup comeback against Houston

when I thoughtthis guy might be good

was on the cover of Time Mag a couple years later

as John Madden said - "has been in the areana"

bestQB who ever played

Have the whole game on tape.

USC has Charles White, Marcus Allen, Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, Anthonthy Munoz etc a team that could defeat a lot ofNFL teams -yet Montana leads t5he Irish back from a huge deficit in the 2nd half to take the lead -only to have USc kick a last second FG -which ended up them winning a share of the NC.

Then he led ND back against Houston in the Cotton Bowl Chicken Soup game.

no question in my mind this guy was the real deal.

Niners drafted him in the 3 rd rouind.

and ND got screwed in the game.

On USCs final drive for a last secomd FG - USC QB Paul McDonald FUMBLED and and ND recoved - but th the refs ruled it was a "forward pass" Not Close. Clearly a fumble. Instant replay who show it was a fumble and not a forwards pass

So instead of ND running out clock USC has big gain on a pass - and kicks a last secd FG .

Was piizzed
