When a US Marine forced 3 Israeli tanks to stop!

Captain Johnson told the Israeli officer that he had orders not to permit the tanks to pass. The Israeli said that he intended to proceed through the Marine position to a railroad track and that he also wanted to speak to a Marine general.

When Captain Johnson repeated his orders, the Israeli said he would pass through anyway and mounted his tank. ''At this point,'' the Pentagon statement said, ''the company commander drew and loaded his weapon and stated that the tanks would have to go over him to pass.''

BAD ASS!

Very heroic act.

I remember that
I was in the USMC at the time
sounds like something other Marines I know would do--especially my co-worker
he took no shit from anyone
he would get to the point/problem fast--and fix it
maybe too impulsive, but he would kick some a$$

....I remember-- distinctly/clearly when Reagan said they would send the Marines there---for peacekeeping
...I immediately thought--''this is not good'''
..you don't use a military force in a fked up area like that, and not give them free fire orders
..that place had more than just the Pals fighting the Israelis....
...there were all kinds of conflicts with so many different groups

and--I was right
the USMC is trained more for going in and kicking A$$--not sitting around, waiting for ''trouble''--where they don't have weapons free orders

Israel said it never happened. Did anybody at the Times bother to interview Capt. Johnson or the Israeli tank crew before a digitalized version of the story was reprinted?

Israel always denies news it does not like.

One of Reagan's catastrophic errors.

the world should've been helping Israel eradicate the Pals
but the US should not have gone in
the USMC was there in 1958 also

Yes, and Eisenhower, a military man, put them up on the heights overlooking Beirut. Reagan put them in about the most dangerous position, and they got burned for it.
So, Granada got 'liberated'.

It was published to dispel your ignorance.

ignorance of what?

Real news, facts, and truth.

the "REAL FACT" that military officers from two different
countries had a disagreement as to which "side" had a right or
reason to be on which field of conflict? -------Ya gotta be kiddin'
You idiots consider that a NEWS WORTHY THINGY?.

I’m sure America gave Israel a few extra billion dollars as recompense for our disobedience
