What's up from the .357 revolvers to practice with?

I am planning to work up from the .357 revolvers to a higher caliber revolver. Is the .44 Magnum a very big step?

If you consider the Smith&Wesson revolvers, how big would be the recoil comparing the .357, the .44, and the 0.5 500?
