What's this about our troops being sent to Africa?

Ive been out of the loop all weekend. But I hear Obama is sending troops into Africa. What's this about?

It's about Obama being Obama...

They've probably been sent their to get Michelle a real African meal so she can impress her progressive friends..

Yeah, SEAL team 6 getting Michelle lunch..

Obama is a hypocrite...

Both are....
africa libya .... hmmmm

I have been involved in a couple of these ops both on the ground and financing one at the HQ level. The U.S. has been doing these things for a long time. Besides ridding the world of bad guys, they are lots of fun and good training. The link describes a little of where this falls in the operational scope of things, politics aside.

Foreign internal defense - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I wouldn't consider spending money and possibly lives on something "fun" to be worthwhile or admirable. As for training, in the days before we were embroiled in 2+ wars that was some kind of argument. Today it falls flat.
There are always bad guys to be gotten rid of. The question is priority.

Our involvement with African internal conflicts will increase in the coming years. Africa is the last Global Economy Frontier in the world. Millions of Global Economy slaves for the taking there. China and Europe have been there for a long time. Now it's time for us to muscle in. This is definitely not about helping the children. Africa is a massive untapped Global Economy goldmine. We'll be involved in all sorts of wars there in the near future. Libya and Uganda are only the beginning.

It's all about the Global Economy in the end. They've already conquered most of the world. Africa is all that's left to be conquered. The U.S. isn't gonna miss the boat. I expect to see many more interventions in Africa in the future. It's always about the dollar. Don't believe that old "But it's for the children" myth.

Africa, the last Global Economy Frontier. Lots of future Global Economy slaves there. We will be involved in many wars over there in the future. Stay tuned.

He did get Congressional approval as the law demands, correct?

Congress has, little by little, rendered itself irrelevant.

I don't think our troops should be used for any purpose other than defense of our homeland. But sending them to Africa to put a stop to the mass raping and other atrocities going on there seems more acceptable than our actions in Vietnam and Iraq, all of which has severely damaged our national reputation.

There is a valid humanitarian purpose in this action.

B/c JFK is the liberal Golden Idol. Truman - Ike, not so much.

Because JFK had nothing to do with sending the combat troops in.

That was Lyndon Johnson that authorized that crap.

Fuck that asshole.
But, JFK sent military advisors. So is Obama.

This is true, and right before his assassination, he send a withdraw order that, shortly after his assassination, LBJ reversed.

LBJ was a fucknut and he got us involved in that crap.

It's all about the money. It's not about the children. It's time to conquer and exploit Africa now. The Global Economy has nowhere else to go. All other areas have already been conquered. We will now begin to get involved with many conflicts in Africa. Lots of money to be made. It is sad but it is what it is.

LBJ was a fucknut and he got us involved in that crap.

LBJ was a fucknut for many, many reasons. A warmonger that never read The Art of War sure but he was also right up there with the worst of the central planners; from the Wilson/FDR school. Those three oversaw more wars and enacted more unsustainable entitlement programs than perhaps any others in American history...the very spending mentality that is currently bankrupting the country.

A fucknut indeed.

And YET Democrats and the far left have claimed it was an illegal war, that it was Unconstitutional and that Bush is guilty of War Crimes.

Regime change in Iraq was a Clinton era policy - this is why Bill & Hill supported the war. Hussein was a Reagan Cold War asset who no longer served our regional interests. 9/11 provided the context for his removal, which was part of a much larger regional transformation. The only groups who didn't support the war were the anti-war left and isolationist right (both with little congressional representation).

Here is a letter the neocons wrote to Clinton in 1998. Letter to President Clinton on Iraq These are the people who took over Bush's defense department. This war was the single obsession of the Bushies from day 1. They believe that control of the middle east, given the growing oil demand of China and India, is absolutely necessary to American survival. This is not just oil - it's the energy which the global economy depends on. It is vital that the region not be controlled by anti-American radicals. Until you can drive your car with peace and love, you might have to defer to their vision.
