What's an Entitlement?

There's a difference between having a "right" to something and being "entitled" to something. A right is not given to you, is it yours by birthright and is definitely not provided by the gov't. An entitlement is something that is given to you by the gov't, but NOT by virtue of being alive.

Entitlement programs are fine...But they need to be paired down and cut.

The problem is with how much that entitlement will cover. Cut the programs in half... and it is still and entitlement program... just not as generous. Restricting the entitlement programs is still and entitlement program... just harder. Can we make it a rule that if you want welfare you are REQUIRED to show up for community service 30 hours a week? pass a drug test every month before you get the check... limit the number of children that will be covered.... sure. If you don't want to conform to the rules... you don't have to apply to the entitlement program.

The other problem with entitlement programs... the ones taking and receiving them....are never happy or satisfied with what they are getting.... they always want MORE and nothing is ever enough.

Work? B..b...bu....but I'm ENTITLED to it!!! Btw, inflation and gas prices are killing the amount of booze and ciggies I can buy with this.

This is not rocket science.

The word 'Title' has a specific meaning. Thus, the word 'Entitle' has a specific meaning. You have a 'title' to your car. Did you pay for it, or did the government buy it for you?

That's the mantra....

So how about being entitled to half of what they are getting now.... its still and entitlement.... and more then nothing at all.
