What’s a really weird fact about a US President?

In 1958 a TV western called "Trackdown" broadcast an episode where a con artist came to town and warned all the residents that they were about to be destroyed and only he could save them, by building a wall. And the charlatan's name was ............ Trump.

"Be careful son, I can sue you"...

John Tyler was born in 1790. He was the first President married in the White House.

He has two grandchildren still alive. The 10th President, (5 more came after him before Lincoln), born in year 1 of George Washington's Presidency, who's father was Thomas Jefferson's college roomate and a Revolutionary War hero, has grandkids still alive today.

Andrew Jackson was the first President to have an assassination attempt on his life. The assassin brought two pistols. Both misfired when he pulled the trigger. Jackson started beating up his assassin with his cane until his aides pulled him off of the guy. In the mid 1900's the Smithsonian loaded and fired the two derringers the assailant tried to use. Both fired on the first try.

John Quincy Adams was known for skinny dipping in the Potomac River every morning. A reporter took advantage of this information and sat on his clothes until he would grant her an interview.

I cannot tell a lie, 9 out of 10 dentists recommended Elmer's Toothpaste for George Washington's wooden teeth

Random fact.

Washington's teeth were made of hippopotamus ivory, bone, animal and human teeth, lead, brass screws and gold wire.

Supposedly the "wood teeth" story came out because he really liked red wine which stained them darker and gave them a grainy wood appearance.

JFK was younger than four of his successors, while Ronald Reagan was older than four of his predecessors.

Do you want REAL ones?

Benjamin Harrison died early into his Presidency at only 32 days from pneumonia because he stood out in the cold and gave the longest inauguration speech in history.

That was William Henry Harrison actually, Ben's grandfather.

And while the story about the longwinded speech given without a coat is true, the connection with his cause of death is specious. Washington was a dump at the time with garbage and dysentery in the streets and that's thought to be more causative. No doubt the speech didn't help his 68-year-old constitution though.

Some tongue-in-cheek historians rank W.H. Harrison as the best POTUS ever, on the basis that being limited to 32 days he had the least amount of time to fuck anything up. Also he played a mean lead guitar for the Beatles.

Damn it... I got Harrison'ed.

Eh --- keeping the 19th century lineup straight is a challenge. Then you put repeated names in and it's even worse. To this day there are amateur historians who think Grover Cleveland and Grover Cleveland were two different people.

Additional fun fact --- the first Beatle to visit the United States was Benjamin Harrison's little brother George, who came in 1963 to visit his sister in Illinois before the Beatles were a thing.

OK I made up the little brother part.
