if John McCain slashed billions of dollars from the budget for ear marks that fund roads, construction projects, education and many other things that provide jobs to middle and working class Americans so that, as John McCain himself said before he changed his mind, to give tax cuts to the wealthy? Remember, the government is giving money to Americvans now to save the economy, imagine if this nut McCain pulled the rug out and cut all this money the funds consumer spending just so the rich can buy more $10,000 bottles of champaign?

Do you mean by providing jobs, lining the pockets of their campaign donors or campaign bundlers? These projects can still take place without earmarks, under Mccain they would have to be debated and voted on...

Oh, so nothing will change. Yes, I understand that

Absolutely. These things can be put into another bill, it just means that Congress will have to do their jobs and actually start working for us. Imagine that.

It would be a bad idea to slash government spending like earmarks in a recession but in the long run, it would probably be good for the economy since less government spending would lower or eliminate the deficit and lower interest rates.
