Who says those dire statistics are accurate? If you knew how they collected the data that goes into them you would see that there myriad reasons to doubt them. For instance: if a murder is committed and 15 suspects are arrested, the murder is counted as 1 incident but the suspects are all counted regardless of innocence or guilt! Nevertheless, the data is generated from arrest records and police reports that, considering the well known disregard police have for minorities... especially blacks, reflect biases and prejudices that seem almost innate. Matthew fits that police profile perfectly. How many people here would doubt that if he were smart enough to be employed anywhere in the data collecting system
that he would be fair or unbiased.

Extreme prejudice and malice enters into the whole affair when the terms "race" and "statistics" are used by agencies, usually staffed by right wing nut jobs, to preserve the status quo. Yes folks, the same kind of people who tried to keep Blacks and others from voting are manipulating those statistics that make white people nervous around Blacks.
Those statistics are the driving force behind the old school's anti-Black legacy promoting white supremacy at all costs. The incentive to exaggerate racial criminal statistics at all levels was paramount in defining the "conservative" agenda. But a new generation is dawning. Obama's election and re-election shows that a new diverse America is finally coming to grips with the truth. Black Americans are just as capable as anyone, regardless of what statistic mills and naysayers project about them on the whole.
