What Will Dems Do Now?

Truth is, there's no way to balance the budget by following the Tea Party, whacko liberatrian rhetoric. It can't be done. Cutting a little here, a little there is NOTHING compared to the FOUR TRILLION that the Bush tax cuts will add to the debt.

Reality is coming. Will the wingnuts learn?

No, they won't.

So teh Democrats look to have suffered a major defeat. Almost everyone who supported Obamacare and the stimulus lost. The one Republican who lost to a Dem in the House was Joseph Cao, who not coincidentally was also the only Republican to vote for Obamacare.
So what will they do:
1) Blame everyone else and stay the course.
2) Make a major reshuffling of personnel and priorities to reflect better the centrist mood of the country.

My money is on 1).
The GOP faced this exact thing in '06. I said then that if they didnt take those results seriously and do a major house cleaning they could kiss 2008 good bye. They didnt And they did. Now the Dems are in the same boat.

They'll continue to cash their paycheckls and work 100 days a year, would be my guess.

What will Obama do?
What he always does go hard left and cram socialist bullshit big government bullshit through the lame duck congress as best he can.
He may do thing behind closed doors, but he is transparent .

You forget we still have the senate and the presidency.

Your party earned some nice gains yesterday and now you will have to actually have your rubber meet the road.

In two years the infighting of the R party and their inability to provide any real solutions on anything will sink your rended party.

I love to watch democrats cry and moan.

3) Executive orders, Executive orders, Executive orders.

Circumvent Congress at every chance and just make Presidential decrees. King Hussein will not let the American people curb his lust for destroying this nation.

Are you imagining things?

No crying in politics.

How will your party govern?

It will be fighting its self for the next two years.

The GOP is in a pretty good position, it seems. Of the legislature and the executive, they still only have 1/3 of the government. The other 2/3 still belong to the Dems, and along with that will go the bulk of the blame if people aren't happy.

The GOP in the House can pass a bunch of popular Bills and just sit back and wait for the Senate to scuttle it or Obama to veto. Then in 2012 they can say "See, we tried to do what we were elected for but the Dems blocked us every step."

I'm sure in short order they'll pass a Bill extending the Bush tax cuts permanently (if the lame duck Congress doesn't do it). If the Senate sinks it or Obama vetoes it, they'll take the blame.

Same with health care. The House can't repeal it, but they can push through a Bill to repeal and then sit back while the Senate is forced to either consign the Bill to a procedural black hole or send it up to Obama for a veto.

The GOPers are probably better situated for 2012 than they would have been if they'd taken the Senate.

The above assumes that the Dems carry on as they have the last couple of years. If they actually wake up and take yesterday's election seriously, they may be able to wrest the advantage back from the GOP. I don't know how likely that is - we'll see what Obama says in his speech today.

What will you do when you do all this you say you will do and the economy is booming two years from now?

You will have effected nothing and not get any credit for the boom.

If the Dems continue doing exactly what they're doing and the economy takes off, the GOP will have a bit of a problem. But of course the obvious answer to that is "See, you elected us and now the economy is better." Whether it is true or not won't matter nearly as much as the abiliity to say it to the public.

It's really a good position to be in. Things improve, they can say that the one difference is their take over of the House.

Things don't improve, they can say they only had the House and not enough power to make the Dems change.

And Obama will be too shell-shocked to effectively argue otherwise, if his performance during this election cycle is any indication.

This guy will be such a fake as a centrist, he was what he was branded pre '08 election, his ego is getting crushed tonight, he will get very little sleep over the coming months.....

If he veto's anything to deal with a Obamacare repeal he is toast in '12, which he probably is anyway......

 Oh he's ready to veto. Bet on it.

Without the House, you're reduced to pulling unconstitutional executive orders.

Unconstitutional executive orders make one unpopular. Ask Bush.

Don't you get it yet? Dems don't have to do anything. It's your teapartiers who are expected to perform.. Now let them get started on that balanced budget and jobs, jobs, jobs..

As I recall, the Democrats won Congress in 2006...and won the Presidency in 2008.

There also was a stock-market crash and mass unemployment in 2008. Coincidence?

Perhaps I'm not the one who ought to be concerned?

No you really shouldn't concern yourself with diversion and 2008 when your teapartiers are under sooo much pressure to hit the ground running.

They have a message from the teaparty, they've come to take government back!

Better get them busy instead of worrying about Dems now.

I pray that the Republican House will be more effectual than the Obama Administration has been, yes.

You said it yourself, however....V-E-T-O.
