China will find a new way to achieve the primary thing it wants and obtains from North Korea: a physical buffer zone between Westernized culture and Western military forces.

That benefits none of the world's key economic or political players.If America does a preemptive strike on North Korea then expect Russia, Iran and China to back North Korea and a possible World War...
- A conventional war involving the world would be nothing but another war of attrition a la WWI and a nuclear one is of no value to anyone.
- The major powers could conceivably play out a war or proxy on the Korean peninsula, but to what end? The nation that benefits in that scenario is Iran, which has very little to lose in the way of international trade, and neither Russia nor China are keen to seen those crazies rise above their "pawn status" in actual prominence.
