What was all that fuss about?

yeah, no kidding shogun.

here we have a thread title n start bout how clinton woman are going for obama...then you get someone saying how silly that is because of course democrat woman would in the end not be bitter enough to vote for mccain.

and then you get a poster showing that in fact she is bitter enough not to vote for obama.

and then for added richness you get some lament over votes not counting for anything :eusa_boohoo: overlooking the irony of choosing not to vote.

I'm not bitter. I just don't feel the need to use my basically worthless vote to vote for someone I consider a liar and a phony.

hey, if you wanna call not voting - not being bitter.

be my guest.

i can think of plenty of other names for it.

but the polite one would be - mccain helper.

did you hear what mccain called the SCOTUS ruling on gitmo?

but hey you aren't bitter...

why would you think your vote is useless? it probably carries far more weight than mine.

and, of course, you can not use your vote and allow someone to get into office who will have the opportunity to kill our courts. I suppose that's a choice.

Why do I think it's useless? Maybe because last presidential election I convinced about ten people that never voted to register and vote for Kerry and Bush still won. If I thought my vote was valuable I'd vote for Obama. But since I don't think one vote matters, I'm voting, or not voting, however I please.

I'm not ruling out that I'll change my mind, but as long as it looks like Congress is going to be a super majority of Dems I'm not worried about McCain. Plus, I like balance more than one party rule.

on some issues.. on others... well, lets just say the far left is just as bad, if not worse, than the far right.

I've never quite understood the reasoning behind that kind of thinking. It looks good on paper, but it's like people who say they are moderates and are happy with that. If you chose to be a moderate you aren't really choosing anything, you are letting the opposites chose for you. Same as if you think a balance of power between the parties is something inherently good, as if the issues aren't the most important thing to consider.
I see enough diversity within both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party that I don't think there is anything to be concerned about in terms of the government becoming so unified that citizens have to worry about that. This isn't the USSR.

Really? Where were you between 2000 and 2006?

Well, you have a point there. I should have modified my statement saying it's okay when Dems are in charge. (Even better if Socialists were in charge)The thing is, though, you can have a balance of power that alternates time wise. A Dem for President and a Democratic Congress can balance out what happened in the recent past.

I don't think so. I'd hate it if the socialists were in charge. The Dems might be okay for a short while, but absolute power corrupts. I think both viewpoints, conservative and liberal, are needed to keep either from going off the deep end.

If you choose to me a moderate you aren't choosing anything? That sounds kind of lame, no offense.

Oh yeah, a whole lotta hollow posturing...

"As The Times' Michael Finnegan detailed today, initial signs indicate that many women voters who had supported Hillary Clinton's presidential quest are more quickly and willingly lining up behind Barack Obama than many analysts had anticipated. And one conversion is bound to get a lot of attention -- the Obama campaign has announced that additions to its staff include Patti Solis Doyle, who for more than a year managed Clinton's bid."

Patti Solis Doyle, longtime Hillary Clinton loyalist, joins Obama camp | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

What's this thread about? Lefties will fall in line and vote Dem whether or not they like the candidate just like conservatives will vote for McCain although none of us can figure out who wanted him.

Congratulations. Politics as usual. Both parties chose the candidates for us this time.

The real question is why do they continue perpetuating the sham that we actually have a vote that counts?

I know you'd hate it if the socialists were in charge, you capitalist! ;)
I'm not anti capitalist, I recognize that human nature should not be thwarted but it can be channeled. So I am strongly in favor of regulation to insure that businesses operate fairly and for the common good as much as for profit. I don't think regulation need be cumbersome or costly either. Lack of regulation can end up even more costly in the end. Excessive exploitation of natural resources, for example is costing us already.

Both conservative and liberal viewpoints are needed , like you say, to keep the country from veering off on a dangerous tangent, but I see enough of both in Democrats. Anyway this absolute power thing you mention. I don't see how Dems or Americans in general could agree on enough of the issues to be capable of consolidating themselves into any kind of absolute power.

It is lame to choose the middle of the road. Because then your position is determined by the road and limited by it.

Oh God! maybe this calls for another poll!

mmmmmmmm...yet you think the socialists should be in charge.

I really don't understand your views on moderates. Please explain.

John McCain loves women especially if they are a beer heiress. Wonder if he likes beer too? The only women he doesn't like are the crippled older wives, the accidentally pregnant woman or.....

lol. I voted for barak. Looks like it counted.:D

but i get it...if your candidate didn't get the ticket...you vote doesn't count.

lol

The obvious answer is control.
