What the hell is with these pollsters?

As part of the polling questions, would it be impossible to ask, as ONE of the questions, do you consider yourself to be a Democrat, a Republican an Independent or "other?"

And maybe, since they are randomly calling REGISTERED voters, they could ALSO ask, "how likely is it that you will be voting on Election day?"
They do ask which party you consider yourself. That's where they get the sampling figure.

Right. So that answers YOUR question, then. Randomly SELECT the roughly correct percentage of respondents from that group of the entire sample of respondents to correspond with the actual percentages of Dim vs. GOP voters.

That's one thing they could do.

What is the actual percentage of Democrat vs. Republican voters?

Foxnews final poll in 2008 was Obama by 7.

Obama won by 7.3.

Why would Foxnews be skewing a poll now? This is a perfect example of how irrational you 'nuts are about this.

Foxnews has no motive to skew the poll in favor of Obama. They have no motive to hire a pollster that would skew the poll in favor of Obama.

I think it's because people are ashamed to identify themselves as Republicans and only slightly less ashamed to identify themselves as Democrats.

I just looked into the new Fox poll and was stunned to see that even they OVERSAMPLED democrats. And not by a little either.

44% democrat to 35% republican http://www.foxnews.com/politics/interactive/2012/08/09/fox-news-poll-presidential-race/

Why would anyone even publish such a skewed poll??????????????????

If you look deep into the data you can also see that they have consistantly oversampled democrats from as much as 1% to 9%

With such a small number of respondents polled how can they expect to get a fair sampling of the pulse of the people when nonsense like this is done? I can see why a left leaning establishment may want to skew a poll but why the hell would Fox do the same damn thing?
A good coach does not let his team get overconfident. :eusa_whistle:

Thanks for confirming that Faux News has a dog in this fight, and that they're actively campaigning for Romney.

Gee. You're dumb.

I think it's because people are ashamed to identify themselves as Republicans and only slightly less ashamed to identify themselves as Democrats.

A very sizable number of conservatives pride themselves in being Independents.

The best indicator is if the poll gives you the liberal, conservative, moderate breakdown.

How fucking hard is this? FOX deliberately oversampled Hispanics, but FOX also weighs for age, sex, and race/gender. The oversampling should have little if any effect on the fact that Mitt is getting his ass handed to him.

From the actual survey:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/interactive/2012/08/09/fox-news-poll-presidential-race/

The additional interviews of Hispanic respondents were done to allow analysis of the subgroup,
and are weighted so Hispanics are not over-represented in the overall national sample.
The total
170 of Hispanics is made up of 55 interviews done as part of the base national sample and 115
oversample interviews from a list of Hispanic voters developed from previously conducted
national random digit dial (RDD) surveys. Oversample interviews were conducted in both
English and Spanish.

when it comes to taking polls, who are they speaking to? single women? uneducated poor individuals? working people with families? there are too many voting blocks to get an accurate calculation. Florida would be the hardest one to figure out being we have pretty much all voting blocks here,,and in Florida it could come down to the masses of angry senior citizens and white males that will give Romney the state.

You can't get an accurate calculation?

Then how did the final realclear politics average manage to call it for Obama by 7.6 points,

and he won by 7.3 points? That is essentially dead on.

Two things to take note of...

I'm not irrational and

FUCK YOU

Yeah, that about covers it.
