What The Candidates Aren't Telling The Stupid Voters. We Have A Doctor Shortage. But Free Health-Care!

What no one seems to be debating is that we have a shortage of services...and not so much a shortage of physicians.

We could fix that by increasing the number of physicians, either by training more or allowing more to immigrate into the country.

We could fix that by improving the ratios at which physicians enter specialties or primary care, through changes in training slots or in how we pay physicians.

We could fix that by making the health care system more efficient, by distributing the resources we have more effectively, or by increasing our willingness to use mid-level practitioners through changes in regulations or licensing.

even the terminally stupid people {about 30% of Americans} are aware that there arent doctors on every corner/business district

Anyone who thinks its possible for free medi-care/free health-care for all must have an IQ between 0 and 34. Why wont these leading Democrat Candidates bring up the downside of their version of this free health-care proposal? God forbid they tell the truth that there are not enough Doctors to treat up to 300 Million people! and god forbid they inform "The Stupid Voters" that they may have to wait for a year for that operation, and they could die waiting !!!
But thats OK with liberals, they see all people as insects, dont care if they die, so long as they have power. Right?
:umno: :stupid: :iagree:

Um,
  • thinking people understand not all 300 + million people need to be treated by an MD everyday.
  • thinking people understand preventative medicine does not require an MD, or an RN.
  • thinking people understand we are what we eat, drink and inhale impact our general health, and support age appropriate health care curriculum in he public schools
  • thinking people wonder why public health clinics are not funded by the Federal Government which provide preventative medicine in rural and urban communities which include education, vaccines and routine lab tests.

Say what? So you want health insurance but not a doctor? Dang you must be a liberal.

What a bunch of right wing idiots.....

The equivalent of stating that people should STOP asking for food because we have a shortage of farmers.

No, it's the equivalent of stating that guaranteeing everyone a full refrigerator when there's a shortage of farmers to produce the food means that everyone will end up starving.

First Medicare is NOT free

Second, a doctors' shortage and access to health insurance are NOT related

Third, medical schools have increased their student population by over 30%

This is why too many doctors are leaving the profession and too few new ones are joining it

Oh, very "true".......Tons of doctors are leaving the profession and working as greeters at WalMart

Yes, those ARE the only two choices: doctor or WalMart greeter. There are no other jobs in the US.

I didn't read that anywhere. If you have evidence to dispute the article you're free to present it. If you have to engage in hyperbole perhaps it's because you can't.

I simply want to know WHERE "doctors who are leaving the profession" wind up working; surely they are not all migrating to Venezuela.

A lot of the older ones retire. Approximately one-third of doctors in the US are 50 or over. Others switch out of clinical practice to medically-adjacent fields, like research or teaching or hospital administration, or to specialties that are pay-as-you-go. Still others just change careers, more or less like anyone else would do.

there is strong evidence that we are thinking about this the wrong way. In 2014, the Institute of Medicine released a thorough analysis on graduate medical education that argued there was no doctor shortage, and that we didn’t really need to invest more in new physicians.

The system isn’t undermanned, it said: It’s inefficient. We rely too heavily on physicians and not enough on midlevel practitioners, like physician assistants and nurse practitioners, especially because evidence supports they are just as effective in primary care settings. We don’t account for advances in technology, like telehealth and new drugs and devices that lessen the burden on physician visits to maintain health.

We fail to recognize that what we really have is a distribution problem. Parts of this country have lots of doctors, perhaps too many. These are mostly in cities, especially in cities where it seems desirable to live. The problem is made worse by the ways we reimburse for care. Medicare, for instance, pays more to doctors who live in places that are more expensive. The argument for this is that the cost of living is higher, so reimbursements must be, too. But that also means that doctors can earn more in places where they already might want to live. A result is that many rural areas, and less popular cities, experience more of a doctor shortage than others.

A Doctor Shortage? Let’s Take a Closer Look

So what are you planning to do? Relocate them to the boonies at gunpoint?

True...........Even a fucked up, lying charlatan could get a job as "president."...........LOL

Sure, because after spending almost a DOZEN years to practice medicine, and face loans of a half a million, idiots like you have determined that many doctors decide to sell real estate instead..........Who damaged your brain so much?

(Doctors spend four years studying for their undergraduate degree from medical school and another two years earning their medical degree. New graduates then face between three and seven years of residency before they can obtain their license to practice medicine.)

Go figure and Walmart announced a couple weeks ago greeters have got to go.

I didn't "determine" anything. I just looked at the reported statistics. Idiots like YOU determined that it just wasn't happening because YOU think it would be a bad idea.

It must be nice to live in a universe where reality is determined by what you think it should be, rather than being what it is whether you like it or not.

A free economy is a marvel. Millions of people, mostly unknown to one another, each producing some particular good or service, somehow manage to coordinate their actions in a vast, cooperative, productive order with no one in charge.

we need free market health care, friends

What do you think happens ? People without health insurance don’t get sick or injured ?

People wh health insurance run to the doctor every day?

You cons are so clueless .

Same way a necessity like food does, basically.

That's an easy fix that the government already uses in IT and engineering...H1B Visas...

What the hell is wrong with you?
The H1B program has proven to be a very cost effective method. True the educational standards may not be first world quality in many nations but these individuals are coming in and filling the gaps. Better to have a doctor or engineer graduate from Third World State University that none at all...right?[/QUOTE]

Heaven to Betsy! Wouldn't want you to think critically about the system in States and make adjustments. Let's make sure those dollars keep rolling in.

Nice job.

Third, medical schools have increased their student population by over 30%

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Today was match day. Not everyone coming out of medical school will be off to a residency. Having more unmatched almost-doctors will not alleviate our doctor shortage.
