We are now at the dead end Reaganomics led us down...

America was founded on a VERY progressive idea...especially in Thomas Jefferson's day.. a world of kings and the "right of kings"...

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed...


The ONLY reason America has led the world in anything was because of progressive thinking...

The ancestors of conservatives resisted "change" ...they supported King George...

It is a DIRECT failure of unregulated corporations and subsidized capitalism...the rest is human nature...that never changes...

No, but we DO need sensible government regulations that protect citizens from corporations and banks that use subsidized capitalism to their benefit at the expense of the people...

Sorry for the delay. I would have responded sooner, but I had to my coffee off of my monitor. So, does this "personal responsibility" extend to all things? Like for instance, doing due diligence and having sound judgment BEFORE invading a sovereign nation that poses no immediate threat to the United States? Just asking...

I agree...institute a TRUE free market...so does that means you understand and support cap & trade?

No cap and trade it destruction of production.
How about smaller government , and self reliance .

You can't say Reaganomic led us down a dead end because his policies did spur growth. However, he was still a Keynesian which has its own problems. And I wouldn't say Thomas Jefferson was a 'progressive' since that can imply that he was a Statist, which of course is incorrect. He was more like a classical Liberal. It's important to point out that the Founders mainly wanted to protect people from government.

Your quote from the Constitution is exactly right. However, some use the government to enslave the people, whether they are Republican or Democrat, so there must be a balance. The quote from Mark Twain is okay, but it's too black and white. There are radicals that bring a country to a Dictatorship, which can never be good and there are conservatives who prevent growth. Again, it's a balance.

This is what happens when one wing has the schools and the media benieth it ,the country cannot fly straight.
