Reports President Donald Trump's administration had "lost" 1,500 migrant children went viral this weekend, resurfacing a debate on US immigration policies for children.

But that claim is misguided, and is being confused with a separate Trump administration policy to separate migrant children from their parents.

She's was actually claiming asylum from Brazil if I recall directly. You're right. She should have went through legal channels. Stripping a kid away from his parents and keeping them apart for 8 months though isn't an act of self defense...its sheer inhumanity. Perhaps we should aim higher than to say "you broke the law, you don't get to see your kids"...It says much more about us than it says about those who come here illegally. They have a good reason; our reasoning seems to be malice for the sake of malice.
