O.K.! The IDF can easily defeat the Hamas stick and stone Army...they have done that before and yet no submission...

The answer is simple: It is an endless quagmire like Iraq, Afghanistan or any country who’s civilian population is being attacked in their home turf...

The answer to this quandary is also simple: Israel must make peace with Fatah which recognizes Israel's right to exist, then give Fatah a state, share Jerusalem...and they need not include Gaza...

This simple solution with Israel's Economic help to the new state would show the Gaza the fruits of Peace.

No, the solution is to do to the leaderships of the terrorist gangs in Gaza what Sharon did to the PLO in the West Bank. Sharon's actions established peaceful relations between Israel and the West Bank Arabs for the first time in nearly a century. The question is, are there any current leaders in Israel who are smart enough, tough enough and bold enough to do this in Gaza?

Your analysis reminds me of an Einstein summation of insanity when he said: "insanity is when you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result."

Sharon created the present Gaza...and the West Bank?...even Arafat recognized Israel's right to exist that's why they killed him. No one in Israel wanted peace, they also killed Rabin...The Right Wing Zionists were now in control.

Even Sharon knew the right wingers went too far and left Gaza hoping for a peace deal.

With all due respect...the World demmands a Peace...Israelis I hope endorse a peace in Jan. elections.

It is odd that my post reminds you of what Einstein said about insanity since Sharon's actions in the West Bank did work and established peaceful relations between Israel and the West Bank Arabs for the first time in nearly a century. Whatever Arafat may have said, Sharon's actions were in response to the second intifada, the worst period of violence between Israel and the West Bank Arabs, and they turned it into the most peaceful period.

You may be right that the withdrawal from Gaza was part of a Sharon plan to bring about a final settlement, but, largely due to the corruption and incompetence of the Abbas government, the withdrawal led to a division of the Palestinian Arabs that makes any negotiated two state solution impossible for the foreseeable future.

If you are really serious about wanting to see a negotiated two state solution, you should be rooting for Israel to take control of Gaza again and then to turn it over to Abbas in the hope that realistic negotiations can begin, but the Israelis are not about to spend their blood and treasure to give Gaza back to Abbas when he has proven he is incompetent to hold on to it.

Presently, the only hope for peaceful relations between Israel and the Gaza Arabs is for Israel to do to the leaderships of the terrorist gangs what Sharon did to the PLO, so that the Gaza leaders who brought this humiliation and defeat and immense suffering to the people of Gaza will be replaced by new leaderships that will be more accommodating, as the Arafat government was replaced by the more accommodating Abbas government.

Palestinian Jews, Muslims, and Christians enjoyed "peaceful relations" for centuries before European Jews decided to inflict a Jewish State upon the majority of the population of Palestine.

I think pbel is talking about the longer-term prospects for peace, AFTER the Gazan terrorists are beaten into submission. When the West-Bankers see what rebelling cost the Gazans, they will be even more moderate than they are now. Abbas has already said that he has no desire to get Safed back, only to visit. But if Gaza loses in warfare AND Abbas loses by peaceful means in the UN, the Palestinians will catch on to the fact that this is all just bullshit.

Israel exists, and we all must move forward.

They do embrace a hudna now and then.

I met some Palestinians once at Abraham's Tomb. They're not all fanatical like the Gazans.

Has Israel decided on its Eastern border, yet?
No one I listen to is calling for the extinction of Israel, but that doesn't mean its policies of "creeping annexation" and "creeping cleansing" can continue.

Kosher bullshit to be precise, and it started in 1948 when one-third of the population of Mandate Palestine inflicted a Jewish state upon the majority of Palestinians.

There was no such thing as a Palestinian in 1948. What are you talking about? The term Palestinian didn't come about until 1960. It was a term invented inside Baleshinka special ops school in Russia, introduced to Arafat as they trained him on art of word propaganda. You people simply do not understand the history of this thing. Should the Israelis have gotten out in front of this back in the 60's? Yes. Why didn't they? I don't know. Bottom line is the State Department has been sitting on this intell for decades and could have told the world about this lie long ago. They did not. So there it is. Next? Step right up.

Jeremiah-----the word PALESTINIAN did exist-------there are all kinds of places one can find that word before the 1960s it meant A JEW LIVING IN PALESTINE It appears in travel guides -----a few years ago-----I happened to be in the southern part of MANHATTAN-----I saw some hebrew writing ---painting on a brick wall------very faded the words were LONG-----ie lots of letters------hebrew words are short-----two, three, four ---sometimes five letters-----but Yiddish words are LONG -----because they are written using hebrew letters phonetically. I am far from fluent in hebrew and almost dead in yiddish--------but I was interested in trying to figure out what it said one of the long words was PALESTINIAN the sign was dated something like 1914 It turned out to be a kind of social meeting zionist group thing I have seen the word "palestinian" in reference to jews living over there in much older books My hubby came to palestine very early in the 1940s-----at about age one------on his papers he was described as PALESTINIAN------for one reason only------for being a jew------arabs were not so designated on official papers in the palestine mandate. The papers were issued by the British at that time------but the designation is much older----the Ottomans used it too

1948 Mandate Palestine.
650,000 Jews.
1.2 million Arabs and others.
No Russians or Baleshinkashit.
Break a leg.
