For what benefit? We would have to commit to continually resupply that outpost as long as there are people in it. Billions of dollars, year in, year out ....just to keep them alive

Many meteorites are composed of valuable metals like iron, nickel, platinum, molybdenum and so one. Capturing just one of these meteors and bringing into near earth orbit so it can be carved up would supply the earth will all the metals it needed for 10,000 years.

It pretty obvious we will be the first. Russia can even get a rocket up their anymore without complications. We will have the money and we are already making huge strides with Boeing and space X and much cheaper costs. It will get done.
