What Military People Should Know About Civilian Life

Is the article aimed at four year enlistments? Personally I find it insulting that the author presumes that American Veterans are that ill-informed.

My annual salary will begin at $100,000 a year

I wonder how many of the tens of thousands of men and women leaving the military every year believe this?

This article seems to be just making up myths to dispel as they go along.

My reading is that the article is addressed to military personnel who have spent the majority of their adult lives in uniform and have no realistic idea what life outside the military is like.

Those taking umbrage to the article are, IMHO, a bit childish.

Why is it childish to note this article appears to be manufacturing myths to dispel?

I was in the military and saw plenty lifer NCOs retire, I can't recall a single one who was under the impression that upon transition to civilian world they would magically land a six figure job. It was more often the opposite, stress that they'd be able to match their military income.
