What Job Did You REALLY Want?

That's wonderful! Whaca do?

I was a lawyer and I LOVED it. There just is no bad impulse you cannot give full reign to whilst practicing law. I especially enjoyed pricking hot air balloons. But alas, litigation is a young person's job. Eventually, a body wears out.

I also think I'd have liked anything creative. Graphic designer, landscape architect, etc. Unfortunately, I lack the requisite artistic nature.

Gave up lawyering when I became a single parent, too many long hours away from the little ones and I didn't want them raised entirely by hired help. But I loved what I did. I hate what I'm doing now with a passion that's almost holy but it pays the bills and gets me home on time.

If I could do anything at all....there's such a list of things I'm interested in or curious about I wonder if I could pick just one. A strange one I've thought about is doing those audio books. I've been told many times I have the voice for it, wouldn't that be just a cool job? Like reading to my kids all day but getting paid for it. I could do that.

Why don't you do it then?

I wanted to be a singer. I had the voice for it, just not the confidence or strength to survive the industry. I've had a pretty good life since getting out of my mother's clutches - never made much money - but I sure have three great children!

Jazz? Blues? Folk?

I had you pegged as an artistic type, Granny. I am rather esp-y that-a-way.

You pegged me - I do the arts/crafts things and listen to the music! I particularly like doing stained glass. I design my own patterns and then go through the paces of putting it together.

Don't know what genre I would have pursued. My voice has become a little lower in range. I had a good range at one time - singing soprano - but could go low enough to substitute as a alto if I needed to.

May we know what it is then, CMike?

I'll give you a straight answer.

I was doing door to door sales for about 5 years, on commission only. It was tough work, especially doing it in bad weather.

I started my own company, and I have one major customer now.

I employ a bunch of salespeople.

I am very lucky and I know it.

God bless small business people, CMike.

Congrats!

Octopron Movie Producer/Director.

Dahlin', that's a teeney-tiny market. May want to consider squid-porn as well.

LOL.

Actually, by "Octopron" I intended to consider all eight legged creatures.

What is your fantasy job?

I know what Huggy's ultimate job would be. He wanted to be a Dungeon Master.

Hint hint....Huggy, you're still young.

T'aint too late -- go for it, dude.

O GAWD, glass! I love love love stained glass, Granny. Can we some of your stuff?

Not at the moment - my computer just will NOT recognize my computer ... regardless of the fact it says I have it successfully connected. It's a bitch.

I posted a picture on another board but I have no desire whatsoever to go back to DA and look for it and GS has "crashed and burned."

Well, I always wanted to be one of the scientists working at Jurassic Park.

I'd say that, thus far, I've come rather close.

I was on my third (count 'em, 3) interview with Marmon Transmotive. I clicked with everyone. Until the final question...

This company retrofitted railroad cars to customer specs. My job would have been to translate from concept to product. A dream of a job.

Like an ass I told the truth. "Is there anything that would interfere with your ability to function in this job capacity?".

Well only in this respect...

I got no respect.

Fok me.
