What is your take on Postive Eugenics?

The Third Reich practiced Positive Eugenics :doubt:
Also negative eugenics, for which they are much more well known.

Their positive eugenics programs were based, in part, on those programs in America at the time.

In general mostly, but if you have an opinion with it in regards to a certain program please share.

You want to see "positive" eugenics at work, take a look at the royal families at the turn of last century. The Hapsburgs, the royal family of Russia. Rife with deformity and hemophilia, as well as insanity. Likewise many Indian tribes have become inbred as Indians have become protective of their bloodline (thanks to blood quota requirements for tribal membership). Recessive gene disorders are becoming more and more common.

It works with horses and guppies. Not such a raging success with humans.

Not a valid comparison. Horses were chosen for their traits. The royal lines were chosen for their 'purity', not for any desirable attributes they actually possessed outside of their inheritance of a name.

You know, you have a point.

I usually do, even if it's buried amongst numerous personal attacks and nonsensical rants ;)

Interestingly, many racist advocate eugenics on the premise of 'purity' of a very small group, a concept that would likely cause a decrease in the quality of the race if it is the primary factor, as your example and the breeding of dogs can show us.
