Regardless, the rule applies to lines of text. Since the text in my signature is highly dispersed, thereby permitting the eye to roam over significant portions of it without visual distraction, there is thus not a rule violation that I'm aware of.

dis i wished i could rep you again. Gunny, as admin, ask posters to tone down the sig lines etc. Seems people did the opposite. Apparently its go big, go colored or no one will notice you. It is sad that the aol refugees do not have anything to say so like children they finger paint with colors.

My signature is only eight lines of (regular sized) type, and an additional line of type that's roughly equivalent to two additional lines, thus placing it under the limit. Moreover, several lines only use a small portion of the available width margins.
