What is the end game of Occupy Wall Street?

The goal is to provoke. Right now their biggest success is in getting pepper sprayed.

So far as I can see their message is incoherent, their goals are unstated. They are just making noise for its own sake.

But it does seem they are goading things along lines Bukharin would agree to. First an incomprehensible protest and goad the cops. When the cops respond, protest the cops' response.

They are Obama's sock puppet.

Wall Street makes America Great and it's why Obama and the Left wants to terrorize it.
You have it backwards Frank. Obama is Wall Street's sock puppet. They funded him in 2008 remember?

Saw this interview Max Keiser did with Rosanne Barr about the "Occupy Wall Street" movement. Yes I know, Rosanne is disgusting, just get over it and watch the interview part. The only thing I disagree with her is she's an advocate for big gov't. I love the part about bringing back the guillotine!

This is an organic movement, so no, it's nothing as coherent and defined as "replacing capitalism with a socialist economy." It really is just restoring the middle class, ending the vast transfer of wealth from 99% of us to the top 1% in the country that's been happening for 30 years, and spreading the wealth around to those of us that work to produce it. Anything that does this will make people happy. They're looking for results. How to get there is a technical question that can't be decided by a mass of protesters, but the reality is that for thirty years we've been deliberately going the opposite direction, and that needs to be reversed.

The end game is one of two things: reform or revolution. I'd put my money on the first because that's the way it's always worked in the past; we have a very flexible system of control that always comes across with reform when pressed like this, rather than going rigid and being overthrown. Then again, these may be unusual times. There was one occasion when the control system failed, and politicians in a minority of the country was so blind to reality they actually drove a number of states to secede from the nation in order to preserve a moribund system, and provoked a civil war. Similar inflexibility on the part of the powers that control Washington today could result in a popular overthrow of the government and a new constitution.

In the short term, I'd say one positive outcome would be for Barack Week-Kneed-Corporate-Stooge Obama to pay some friggin' attention here and figure out that the people aren't "on his side," they're to his left, and he's been selling us out too much over the past three years. If he does that, and shows that he's standing up to the Republican demands for even more of the same in Congress, even if nothing gets past, and especially if the Democrats in Congress grow a pair and do the same, it won't make a difference in terms of legislation this term (because the GOP controls the House), but it will make a big difference in next year's election.

The Democrats lost in 2010 because they moved too far to the right and lost their supporters. These protests are the result of that, of the people's disappointment in Obama and his failure to keep his campaign promises. If the Democrats take heed, they can win next year. If that happens, and if we see real reform as a result, then the protests will simmer down.

If they don't, if they continue listening to the voice of Wall Street instead of the voice of Occupy Wall Street, they will surely lose, the Republicans will take over the rest of the government and implement a full-on corporate agenda, and then revolution becomes a distinct possibility.

Bloomberg should immediately issue CCW permits for everybody that works in the Financial District

The end goal is to start a civil war. One that they (and Van Jones) believe will throw off capitalism forever. A recreation of the Reign of Terror. Christians first, you know that's high on their list.

I wish them a lot of success. It's what's necessary in the US right now. Just pop the liberal pus pocket and clean it out.

Like the worked so well during the Whiskey Rebellion and Civil War.

Look..the country was founded by Liberals..for Liberals. Conservatives are just along for the ride.

But anytime you wanna get your collective asses kicked again..start another war.

We'll oblige. :splat:

Definitely some truth to that.

The thing to realize is that really NOBODY is in charge.

There are different people there with very different agendas.

This is in the nature of mass protests.

As the protesters are not threatening anyone, that would serve no purpose.

Uh huh. And by issuing the CCW permits, we'll keep it that way

Cru correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you believe that the government has no right to demand that any of us get CCW permits?

Doesn't the fact that one needs a CCW permit imply that the citizens do not have the RIGHT to bear arms unless the government okays it?

If you are of that ilk who believes that about gun RIGHTS, then imagine that happens when the protestors are ALSO carrying.
