If there is discussion of opposite points of view and they exist within the single party then it is what democracy is about.

Majority wins but that doesn't mean that the minority does not have a say or vote

thus that is why the founding fathers decided for a president that they will have an electoral college which would pretty much even out the playing field out and ignored majority and gave the minority a shot

What keeps both of these parties afloat is that they're the only realistic alternative to the other guys. Neither will self destruct. Over my lifetime the nation has been moderately progressive as the voters have acted like a engine's governor to moderate the speed of that leftward movement by alternating the parties in power. We follow two steps to the left with a step-and-a-half to the right.

All political parties have fractions that may not always agree but in the end you have to go with the least evil one or break off and form an alternative party which in modern times has always failed

Repubs and Demos should be able to agree on that point

Why do we need parties at all? That "D" or "R" next to a candidates name is, often, all a voter ever knows about that person.

The whole idea of politic parties really does little more than cause division, and arguments. It is also why so many people are pushed out of presidential elections, as the system is rigged for a 2 party system.

Here's a thought, how about we do some elections where the candidates political affiliation are not broadcast, and then people will be forced to actually listen to their views, rather than saying " they are my party so I'm voting for them."
