What is so TERRIBLE about voter ID?

Yeah and those hundreds of thousands of Federalist Troops, led by a republican President (Abraham Lincoln), did everything that they could to suppress the blacks in this nation, by going and killing hundreds of thousands of Southern born voting Americans, for whom didnot want to fathom or even think to give up the thousands of laborers/slaves by order of, because they had no otherway to farm vast amounts of land without them being enslaved, was the thoughts in their minds at the time (or) to bring in the large crops from the fields once ready for harvesting, if were freed these slaves, because if freed, they inturn could barter for their pay and benefits as free-men.

Men knew all along it was wrong to enslave men and women back then, but just as corporations are still guilty of things like this till this very day, yet in a certain yet more cleaner way, it is still just all business to them as it was back then, where as right now to a modern corporation of today, whether it is in China or elswhere where these things still go on, and still do exist today, the thinking is still the same in it all, maybe just more careful in the ways that it is all now gone about.

Taking credit for what Republicans did when liberals ran the party is like Bush taking credit for getting Bin Laden.

See the mistake Republicans make when they hate education? They end up with no understanding of history and why their party is now 90% white.
Adress the entire post, instead of using your quick one liners to dismiss it.. So what is it then, do you do this in hopes maybe, that the points won't sink in that were made, I mean if discarded in the ways that you just tried to smartly do, in which simply is just a tactic that is always used when good points are made ?

The thing is that many of the GOP passed voter ID laws required people to get a "special" ID fromt he DMV of whcih GOP then closed DMV offices in neigboorhoods with alrge black populations
What about me then, where as I went to vote with a voter card in my wallet, a license in my wallet, a social security card in my wallet, also being a long time citizen of the community, an owner of land in the area etc. yet when I went into the highschool where I went to vote, the majority black staff who was running that show, informed me that my name wasn't on a list, and that my card wouldnot work because it had to be verified(?) in which I would have had to have gone downtown to some office to do that for which they said, but then the office would have been closed when I would have gotten there, so they acheived their goal if they didnot want me to vote in that election, because I didn't... Now what do you have to say?

People deny God, the Christ, the Bible, and it's teachings, yet we are heading just as fast as we can to exactly what it actually said was heading towards us in revelations (or) is going to be coming our way soon (or) will happen definetly soon enough, and guess what? Who will it be that will be working for whom when that time comes ?

The heavy push towards it all is now here, and now all one has to do is sit back and watch it all take place....:eusa_pray:

PS. How about this maybe, lets go back to obtaining our freedoms once again from it all, and let the world suffer the consequences of it's own actions, instead of us following just as hard as we can go now, the many who are running now in the world, straight down into the pit?

I deny your God, your Christ (at least, your BS perception of him), your bible. What of it? I'm not sure what your completely off topic rant had to do with anything. But I'll say this, that if you think that the content of my character or my value as a human being is in any way diminished by the fact that I commune with Divinity in the way that it reveals itself to me, or that I honor my Goddess for her blessings, or that I pray to my other deities as Divinity has shown me fit, then I'd kindly invite you and yours out to dinner with me and my lady. We can share in the blessings of the gods by feasting on beasts, and savor the wine of Earth Mother's bountifulness. And if you still want to insist that I'm destined "straight down into the pit" after a pleasant evening then you can kindly do the community a favor by planting yourself face down in the sewer. :)
Of course you do!

All I can figure is that the radical left has found a primitive tribe living here in the US and has taken them under their wing. Is there a tribe of primitive adults who have never cashed a check, applied for a bank account, rented an apartment, bought a six pack of beer, entered a federal building, applied for a drivers license, applied for welfare/food stamps, held a job? All those things and many more require a photo I.D.
Good points !

Being very conversant with a large urban black population, I can tell you that most don't have checking accounts, rent apts with cash and are lucky if there is an official occupancy permit, are already known at the liquor store, avoid federal buildings, can't get a license because it has been suspended for previous driving while poor infractions, don't need picture id to apply for benefits and usually work for cash.

This is just one more way to shut them out of participating in self-governance.

Papers, comrade?

Really? I grew up in the hood. Have they regressed that far?

Come take a walk through the North Side of St. Louis, MO. Take a random sampling of the folks you encounter on the street and see how many have ID.

Been that way since the 50's here, that I know of, and according to gramps, has always been.

You should have been given a provisional ballot to vote with.
The elections division/office would have figured out what the problem was.

The Republican Party know exactly what they are doing.....suppressing the black vote....

With one stroke of his pen at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 25, Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin stripped hundreds of thousands of his state’s citizens of their constitutional right to vote. Despite no systematic evidence of voter fraud, Walker and his GOP allies decided to make voter suppression a top priority for the state, fast-tracking the bill before recall elections could occur against Republican Senators this summer and further illustrating that many in the Legislature are working for themselves instead of the people of Wisconsin.

According to a 2005 study by UW Milwaukee Driver License Status of Voting Age Population those without state-issued photo ID who would need to obtain one to vote include:

■23% of elderly Wisconsinites over the age of 65
■17% of white men and women
■55% of African American males and 49% of African American women
■46% of Hispanic men and 59% of Hispanic women
■78% of African American males age 18-24 and 66% of African American women age 18-24

Pointing out the millions of Americans who never had a birth certificate because they were born outside of a hospital to a midwife and linking to that fact is "a good point". Something I did. "Let him die" Republicans say "fuck those people, poor people and minorities are shit so they shouldn't vote anyway". Isn't that what they are saying?

The constitution gives every American the right to vote, but nowhere does it say you need a picture ID.

Hugh Murray: Democrats Suppress the Vote

Even if it were true that there was no voter fraud in the past (and there has been fraud), should we await until there is massive voter fraud to do something? States are correct in requiring IDs now.

I am one of the elderly, and I want my vote to count and not be voided by illegal aliens voting, or others who vote twice.

The Obama Justice Dept. has refused to demand that states remove the dead from the voter roles, as required by law. Perhaps the Chicago politician hopes to win reelection with the graveyard vote.

The editorial assumes that the Democrats want the number of voters to increase. I recall in Wisconsin in 2004 how the states Democratic Party went to court several times to prevent the name of Ralph Nader appearing on the ballot. (Had the Democrats succeeded, they would have effectively disfranchised some 16,000 Nader voters. The Democrats failed in their plot in Wisconsin, but did prevent Nader from appearing on ballots in several states.) In the same election, Democratic operatives, including the son of a Democratic Congressperson, slashed tires of vans meant to transport elderly Republicans to the polls. Democrats seek to curb the vote of those who might vote for other parties. And Democrats use unfair tactics to do so.

The Democrats will stop at nothing to win. To prevent fraud, all good citizens should demand voter ID at the polls.

Is Questionable National Org with Democratic Ties Trying to Suppress Conservative Vote in Wisconsin? | MacIver Institute
Over the weekend, a strange pamphlet began appearing in mailboxes across Wisconsin. It looks like a voter registration form and return label read, Government Accountability Board, but the return address included the incorrect post office box number.

The mailings also included requests for information not required to register to vote in Wisconsin, and at least one solicitation tried to register a six year old girl to vote
The GAB confirmed to the MacIver News Service it had received calls about the mailing, but it did not send them out.
The mailer purported came from an organization called “The Voter Participation Center.”

There is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit by that name, and the organization has been involved in voter registration drives in other states, often prompting complaints.
The group has been accused in the past of disenfranchising voters by sending out confusing mailers, leading them to believe they are registering to vote when, in fact, they were not. In Wisconsin in 2008, WVWV sent out actual registration forms, but after the official deadline to register to vote in the primaries.
Such a checkered track record is surprising to many since the organization is staffed by so many individuals with a long history of service to Democratic causes and candidates.

ID is a good idea.

When you have ID you have proof that you are who you say you are.

I dont' see a problem with ID to vote. Hell. You have to have ID for everything else and everything else is way less important that voting in my book.

The constitution gives every American the right to vote, but nowhere does it say you need a picture ID.

It also doesn't say that you are not required to prove who you are in order to vote.

If someone has lived in the same community for 70 years, and they are 70 years old, and their parents and grandparents lived there, do they really have to prove they are who they say they are.

Come on, it's all about voter suppression. The only plot involving millions of people are the plots that come from Republicans. Admit it.

A Democratic Congressman Is Accusing The Democratic Party Of Rampant Voter Fraud
But former Alabama Democratic Rep. Artur Davis told The Daily Caller that anti-fraud measures are needed to protect African-Americans from corrupt political bosses — many of them African-Americans themselves — who run Democratic Party machines in the South.

“What I have seen in my state, in my region, is the the most aggressive practitioners of voter-fraud are local machines who are tied lock, stock and barrel to the special interests in their communities — the landfills, the casino operators — and they’re cooking the [ballot] boxes on election day, they’re manufacturing absentee ballots, they’re voting [in the names of] people named Donald Duck, because they want to control politics and thwart progress,” he told TheDC.

“People who are progressives have no business defending those individuals.”
