What is more important to you, grades or taxes?

Thx for the good replies guys, I was at work all day so I couldn’t post.

I do see a lot of people claiming that they don’t care, and I tried to make the point that if you were given the opportunity and the folders were right in front of you, what would you do. I highly doubt a single person in here would leave without making a choice is my point. I understand, as I mentioned in the OP, that these are not the big issues, this was purely for fun and interest.

If I could pick two topics of information to be in folders to read they would probably be very far from Mitt’s taxes and Obama’s grades.

To answer my own question I would pick Obama’s grades. As meaningless as I see both option I feel that Obama plays up the “liberals are just smarter!” a little too much. Obama’s arrogance and poor choices make me wonder if he succeeded at anything other than a career in politics in his life.

I would like to see both, but the taxes are probably going to play 3:1 more important than the grades.

The grades can't lose the election for Obama, but the taxes can for Romney.

I would vote "Who cares?" I really don't care about Obama's birth certificate, his grades from 20+ years ago, his religion, his race, his sexual proclivities, etc. I don't care about Romney's taxes, whether or not he was a schoolyard bully, Romney's methods of transporting pets, dressage horses, or car elevators. All this stuff is just distraction, a circus side show. None of it would change my mind about either candidate.

It is worth pointing out that if is does change your mind then you are seriously lacking in the reason department. It is really sad that so many are screaming about things that have a zero impact on policy. Romney’s taxes are meaningless, his stance on tax policy is. Obama’s school records are meaningless, his stance on the department of education is.

Of course, no one cares about positions anymore. The resounding cry you hear usually hinges on some other inane subject that has nothing to do with statesmanship.

If there were 2 folders on a table, one labeled “All of Mitt’s tax returns” and the other labeled “All Obama’s grades,” and you have the opportunity to take as much time as you like and look over the contents of only one folder. If you could not reveal the information to anyone, you couldn’t leak what you read/saw in anyway and it was solely for you to know to help you and only decide who to vote for, what folder would you chose?


Because this seems to be a HUGE issue in the rants and flames part of the boards (General) I figured I’d ask this question here and do a poll to see the reaction.

So there is debate about what is more important to people, Mitt’s tax returns or Obama’s grades. So I’m going to ask this quest simply and I hope I can get honest answers. This does not have to be "the issue" for you in the election, this is a question about your own personal curiosity on this issue.

I am not putting a “I don’t care” option, if you don’t care, don’t vote, just like in the General Election.

do people understand that we don't want to see what kind of student obama was... we want to see if he applied for financial aid as a foreign student.

I really don't care about ten years worth of tax returns. No matter what Romney does the left will make political hay of it. If he releases them, he'll be slammed for how much he makes, and then they'll just demand more. If he doesn't release them, they will continue to make shit up. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I don't really care about Obama's grades, either.

Though my understanding of the college records issue, at least currently, is a question of whether or not he sought to enroll as a foreign student and did he receive financial consideration as such.

Again, this question is relatively low on my list of concerns.

It would be nice if people just played along rather than make some "I'm better than you all because I don’t care!" statement.

All I did was take 2 popular topics that are extremely closely linked and asked which one is more important to you personally. If you want to pretend that if the option to personally see either Obama’s grades or Mitts tax returns holds no interest to you in this incredibly hypothetical make-believe scenario I have presented than don’t vote as I suggested. I didn’t put a “neither” option because I honestly feel it’s 100% lopsided in that conservatives care MUCH less about both issues.

I have even expressed in this very thread how meaningless I feel both Mitt’s tax returns or Obama’s grades are to me. Do I find it purely partisan and predictable that those on the left feel Mitt’s tax returns are paramount to be fully disclosed, of course. Do I find it partisan and predictable that those on the right feel Obama’s grades hold interest over their own candidates tax returns, of course.

Not many people are very honest, even with themselves. I don’t believe for even a second that if this scenario existed that even a 10th of liberals would pass up seeing Obama’s grades over Mitt’s tax returns, but it does not matter what I think. I was just curious because you can’t ask for Obama’s grades without people demanding *more* of Mitt’s tax returns. You can’t ask for *more* of Mitt’s tax returns without hearing people claim we should be able to see *any* of Obama’s grades.
