like the Bible, Aristotle didn't define happiness as temporary joy. he saw happiness as a life well-lived. how can we live a good life? by determining what good means, and by pursuing it

a good dog defends its master. a good human act in accordance with God

it is impossible to achieve happiness without virtue, which means acting with a moral purpose

Happiness is enjoying what you have, not pining for what you don't.

Aristotle served tyrants. He was content with people living in a slave society.

I think happiness is fleeting, moments that lift our hearts just a bit.

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs

a study of teenagers said that those who have sincere empathy have the least cardiovascular risk

We are all made in God's image. all of us! not just kings or potentates. that means we have inherent value!
