Republican: getting the drunk sober by preventing him from drinking


Democrat: getting the drunk sober by giving him more to drink so he'll recover from the withdrawal symptons and then be strong enough to stop drinking himself and mysteriously not experience withdrawal symptoms.

Dunno where the term "austerity" came from, but to me it should mean bare bones spending on the basic essentials, eliminating the nice to have stuff. You can throw in tax increases, although usually that is deletorious to economic growth. But what we've seen so far, what is being labeled as austerity is far from it IMHO.

Give me a break, raising the retirement from 60 to 62 hardly qualifies as austerity. Only a progressive liberal can cut additional gov't spending from 500 billion down to 498 and call it austerity.

No one denies that Haiti and East Africa in Drought are austere. And so Obama and the White nations have rejected that.
