take a few steps back to the government perspective, and it all looks the same. regulated prostitution, in fact, could do more to curtail trafficking than regulating a legal drug trade could.

Imho it would lead quickly to citizen revolt once most of the govt that actually helped the people went away.
How would libertarians handle that?

Well, it is rather simple. Government does not exist to restrict us since most people are capable of self-regulating themselves. This is good enough to create a civilized society but we know that some people can't do this we have to create laws that protect the civilized element from the uncivilized element. These laws will protect life, liberty, and property of each person so when a revolt comes and roaving gangs of 'liberals' come around demanding our stuff we can either shoot them dead or get the government to throw them in jail.
