Extremism to the point of fanaticism is hardly restricted to radical Islam. There were plenty of excuses before it, and there will be plenty of excuses after it is gone.

That not all problems have an Islamic origin is obviously correct. But the example of North Korea is partially false. In the 1990s, perhaps the most scary, unstable country on Earth, Pakistan, home of extreme Islamic militancy and nuclear weapons (thanks China), exchanged with North Korea uranium enrichment technology (used to make nukes) for intermediate range ballistic missiles.
