NEW YORK – All nine people wounded during a dramatic confrontation between police and a gunman outside the Empire State Building were struck by bullets fired by the two officers, police said Saturday, citing ballistics evidence.

Now here's a story from Fox News where well trained police "accidently" shot 9 innocent bystanders. Nine!

All shot by police.

Oops.

Sorry.

Now suppose teachers do the same thing.

Is it still:

Oops,

sorry?

Will teachers be exempt from prosecution? How much "collateral damage" is OK?

if a man with a gun came to kill you and your children would you choose to have a gun or not ?

Hmmm, which is more likely? A man with a gun coming to kill me or winning the lotto?

Since you're in "Chicago" I would "say" the "chances" of someone with a "gun" coming to kill "you" are roughly 100 "times" greater than your "chances" of winning the "lotto"

If your disposition and demeanor in real life are the same as they are here, there will be no need for you to dream about how you'll spend your jackpot.

Arming teachers is nonsense; even armed guards pose a hazard.

To address your OP, You're talking the NYC Police Department.
Those guys are the absolute worst examples of police marksmanship.

Read up on Amadou Diallo.

A properly trained guard stationed in or near the main office at Sandy Hook Elementary School would have reacted as soon as the gunman started shooting to breech the doorway.
It would have been a 99% sure thing that the incident would have been all over with only one death.

The NYC Police Department needs to spend serious time at Front Sight

We've already seen multiple examples of unarmed teachers being killed while trying to protect children (students).
Why do you want their hands tied behind their backs? Do you hate teachers, or just children?

New York police are very poorly trained when it comes to their weapons. Something about the dept. being anti-gun so they don't train and they have the infamous "New York" trigger that trades accuracy for safety.

And, to be honest, most teachers will be far more competent than you for instance.

if a man with a gun came to kill you and your children would you choose to have a gun or not ?

What if you fired shots in order to protect your children but only managed to shoot innocent bystanders

Does that still make it okay?

No, it doesn't. However, if you killed the bad guy and prevented him from killing everyone...would that be a good thing? Or a bad thing?

And if you did kill the bad guy but killed one innocent person as you did?

I would never fire a gun at a person because the risk of injuring or killing a bystander is too great.

the question was.. if a man with a gun was coming to kill you and your children would you want to have a gun or not have a gun ?

Let's suppose you were an armed guard at Sandy Hook Elementary. Would you have refused to take a shot at the intruder if it put one child at risk?
Would you sacrifice 25 people in order to avoid the possibility of harming one child who may be in the line of fire?
What is acceptable risk to you?
Anyone who's had any defense training knows to be sure of your line of fire. Could you risk harming one child to save 19?

We're both still waiting for an answer to that question.
I suspect we won't get it.

Before or after you open your mouth? Trick Question. Don't bother answering. Consider that this awareness may actually save your life, if you find yourself in a hostage situation. You don't have it in you to reason, so, keep your mouth shut. Don't draw attention to yourself. Most of us look at Lotto as a Government Scam. At best, what do you get if you win big? 40% of what is advertized. Considering what they take in? Think about how much you will save making believe you bought a ticket, or a hundred tickets. Ya still get the rush. ;)
