In addition to all the other tax hikes I mean. So we get another 80 billion in annual revenue but we still have over a trillion in deficits every year. What then, will the democrats then cut spending? Don't think so. Some people think an extra 80 billion of revenue just means an extra 80 billion the democrats can spend. And how long will it be until the democrats want to raise taxes again? And again after that?

What is REALLY interesting is that if you take the total government receipts of 2.47T and completely eliminate all discretionary spending so that the government essentially does not exist except to establish safety nets you end up with 2.4T in outlays. IOW, you are left with a whopping 70 billion to run the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Essentially, nothing is left. And that, of course, does not take into effect that these programs are growing faster and faster without any actual end in sight.
Basically, if you think that the Bush tax cuts are what is causing the deficits, then you are smoking some serious hackery weed and need a breath of reality. They are not the problem. The entire scope of what we expect the government to do now is the problems and you are NOT going to fix anything without taking on the entire cake.

Ok, cut the military, cut Foreign Aid, cut Corporate aid, cut Homeland security, cut ATF, cut all regulations & overseer regulatory departments & cut all consumer punitive court laws, cut border patrol, let all druggies & nonviolent gun prisoners out of prisons.

"A large majority of registered voters, including 77 percent of Republicans, say its a bad idea for members of Congress to sign a pledge to never raise taxes on the wealthy, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.
Overall, 85 percent of voters said its a bad idea to sign a pledge to an anti-tax group opposing taxes on corporations or the wealthy under any circumstance.
Its worth noting that the actual pledge that most Republican members of Congress have signed is a ban on all tax increases; it does not single out the wealthy as Quinnipiac did.
In general, 65 percent of respondents supported higher tax rates for those earning more than $250,000 per year."

So Obamination won the national election but lost most of the "local" elections via the HoR electees. Now he thinks he has a mandate to tax the hell out of people making $250,000 so he can spend more money and act like he is really attacking the debt.
"Congressional Republicans' opposition to any tax rate hike on the top two percent of earners shows few signs of letting up as the debate wears on. But the beneficiaries of that opposition, the nation's wealthiest executives, have themselves begun opening up to the possibility of a rate hike.
On Tuesday, FedEx Chairman and CEO Fred Smith, an adviser to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, said that the notion that tax hikes on the richest Americans would kill jobs was simply "mythology."
And on Monday, a gathering of the nation's top defense executives took a surprising turn when they endorsed tax rate increases on the wealthy and cuts of up to $150 billion to the Pentagon's budget. Top executives from Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, TASC and RTI International Metals appeared at the National Press Club at an event organized by the Aerospace Industries Association, the top defense contractor lobbyist.
David Langstaff, CEO of TASC, said that the executives were speaking out because so far leaders of the defense industry were "talking a good game, but are still unwilling to park short-term self-interest." After the event, he told a defense reporter for Politico that tax rates need to go up.
In the near term, [income tax rates] need to go up some, Langstaff said. "This is a fairness issue -- there needs to be recognition that were not collecting enough revenue. In the last decade weve fought two wars without raising taxes. So I think it does need to go up.
