What if Bush actually saved us?

What if the following is true:

1) Without a reliable supply of cheap petroleum the American economy will totally collapse -- which would lead to more death and suffering than #10,000 9/11s.

Everything we do depends on cheap oil -- from suburban life to transportation and the production of computers, plastic, food (everything).

2) The world is running out of easily extractable oil (low hanging fruit) at precisely the time that demand has increased to a level well beyond future supplies.

3) Replacing petroleum is not nearly as easy as people think. Any non-oil solution will lead to a long turbulent period of suffering before the population corrects to a post-oil carrying capacity.

3) Whoever controls the last remaining oil fields in the world will experience the least suffering and death.

What if Bush did what was necessary to secure more oil for America?

What if the Left hates the very man who saved their way of life?

What if Peak Oil is true and Bush did what needed to be done?

**America -- because of its historically singular love affair with the car -- has not invested in things like light rail. America, unlike the ancient cultures of Europe and Asia, was built by cheap oil -- our entire infrastructure depends on it. There is nothing like America's network of auto-dependent sprawl on this planet. Americans have spread out more than any other people in history, requiring the highest oil input of any other advanced industrial nation by an alarming degree. Without cheap oil, the American lifestyle and living arrangement will collapse violently.

You really need to prove what Bush did that seems so great.

IMHO he fiddled while the US burned. The "US Jobs Creation Act" helped move 14,000 US factories overseas. Look what happened to "jobs" between 2007 and 2009...
We need to start weaning ourselves off oil and get into CNG, wind, fuel-cells, bio-fuels, nuclear, solar, etc.

We should have listened to Jimmy Carter 35 years ago and ended our dependence on oil

You gotta love it a Brit has it right and a left winger who pretends to be a right winger ain't got a clue. Say what RW? A quote from jimmy Carter's "malaise" speech? Being independent of foreign oil doesn't mean "tough love" as Carter puts it. Carter was as big a fool as Obama is and half as clueless. Being independent of foreign oil means drilling for the stuff, a-holes, not long gas lines and cars built on skate boards.

Yeah Bush's invasion of Iraq gave us $4 + gal gas. Some cheap petro.
And I do not think Iraq is outputting anywhere near the volume of oil now as it did before the invasion. And virtually none for how long?

Then he should have told us what he was doing and not lied about it.

It all sounds good. Very good. However, why stop there. A man with his military experience should be okay to don full combat dress and patrol some of those markets and other areas outside the 'Green Zone', where everyday scores of people are being shot or blown up, and beef up the security where it is needed most.

Being independent could be easy, cept we are a crapitalist nation controlled by royality that has even convinced cons they can suck a bucket of dicks and enjoy it. We have options that cons refuse to use, so suffer my children.

$4. ? LMAO!! With over a Trillion dollar bill for no WMDs, that gas must be costing $400,000.00 a gallon from the pump. So much your great great grand children will curse your name for not doing anything to stop Bush.

I don't think that's ever been in-dispute......

October 2, 2008

"Approximately seven years after Vice-President Cheney began his secret energy meetings with special interests, the rising costs of the failed Bush-McCain energy policy continue to be felt by middle-class families. The failed Republican energy policies have also threatened America's national security because America has become increasingly dependent on oil from foreign nations."

Bush did.... exactly what he was groomed to do......

"His business career was marked by mediocrity or failure which nonetheless resulted in him getting lots of money from his father's political allies. And his political career has been handed to him on a platter by his famous name, and by his dad's cronies."

"Drill baby...Drill". The answer to Anyones energy woes

We should have developed alternative energy 35 years ago

What if all that you see, all that you know, all that you touch, all that you hear, all that you smell, all that you taste is just some nightmare in the sleep of some poor demented institutionalized mental patient?

It never stops to surprise me how many people think we went there for cheap oil.

Iraq invaded Kuwait for oil, b/c they produced so little.

Invading Iraq did nothing for our oil supply.

Cutting off oil drilling is keeping us from cheap oil, and a bullshit attempt to force green energy.

Correct. And on that front? (Op? Sorry about the O/T article here)?

Holland is dumping the 'Green Tech' opting for Nuclear...First plant in almost 40 years...

Nuclear is the way to go. It's constant, steady and doesn't need vast amounts of land.

You raise the blade, you make the change
You rearrange me 'til I'm sane
You lock the door and throw away the key
And there's someone in my head, but it's not me
