What happened to Super Freddy?

I don't recall addressing Thompson's chances of winning, nor stating he was any "hero" of mine.

It is my opinion that he is the best candidate the GOP has to offer because he is the only candidate that can appeal to conservative voters across the board. The rest of the candidates alienate segments of conservative voters; which, will have EXACTLY the effect Ross Perot had on the election.

So, "my friend," in closing, you did a nice job of responding to the words YOU put in my mouth but absolutely nothing to respond to what I posted.

That is a good point. What I have learned about him tells me he is the best GOP candidate but unless he gets his act together quickly, he is going nowhere. Still, the bush administration has wounded the far right to the point that they don't trust anyone.

It seems his problem is organization or lack thereof. Unless someone like Fred gains the GOP nod, I see the GOP splintered. Billary could be the benefitiary. Look at this:

GOP Condidates besides Fred

Rudy- Too Socially Liberal
Huck- Skeletons galor in his closet
Mitt- Mormon

I suppose the rest of the pack could move up but it is very unlikely.

Just what the republican party needs, another actor, but this one I hear is dumber than the last. Only McCain has a chance to be the republican candidate, and like Dole, another over the hill veteran, he has little chance barring some attack or other action that brings back the fear voter. Fred can maybe do viagra ads like Dole did, and he is an actor so they should be good. Good luck Fred. Someone write the ad.

JHC, what's got YOUR panties in a wad?

It is what it is, just because YOU don't see it that way, don't make it so.

Lighten up dude............

Thompson likes to play the maverick. IMO, this is one time he needs to try and go along with the program a little. He needs to actively put a little distance between himself and the late GOP Congress of which he was intitially a part, and he needs to put some ground between himself in and Bush. He could easily do both with a little effort.

Agree on Guiliani and Huckabee. I think if Romney misses out solely because he is Mormon, then that's just BS. His political record should define him as a politician. Unless he's tried to push his LDS views through his politics, then IMO, it is irrelevant.

McCain has no chance. He alienates traditional conservatives and the far right. The moderate conservative and some independent votes won't cut it.

You lefties railing against Thompson with your irrelevant to politics insults ought to be a clue to the right as to who y'all REALLY fear the most.

Thompson should be polling better than he is. He has some strong conservative virtues that could unite the GOP. I don't quite understand why he is lagging some much.

I wouldn't write McCain off yet. As I said, the GOP front runners, )Rudy, Mitt, and Huck) are not bringing the far right out in grand numbers. McCain this time will not have rove calling him a has been soldier. John could still come back.

As for the Dems, I have always thought Richardson the best choice but a Mex-American will not be elected President as immigration is such a huge issue. So it seems that Bill and Hill are playing games with Obama and Edwards making everyone think it is a close race. Hillary will be the nominee. even if someone has to die...:eusa_sick: (did I say that?)
