The "American dream" was a life free of oppression where everyone had a chance to live life on their terms.

Board of Education), discrimination with regard to ethnicity was made illegal (Hernandez v. Texas, Civil Rights Act of 1964), voting rights protected (Voting Rights Act of 1965), privacy rights acknowledged and protected (Griswold/Roe/Casey), the right to marry reaffirmed (Loving v. Virginia), and discrimination against homosexuals ended (Romer/Lawrence).

There’s still work to do, of course, such as securing the equal protection rights of same-sex couples, and defending privacy right from the reactionary right seeking to drag the Nation backwards; but on balance America’s greatness endures, and the best is yet to come.

The Obama administration on the other hand plans to cut military spending by $2 Trillion, so the only truth about that statement is that within a 10-year period, Romney's plan would have spend $2 Trillion dollars more than Obama on our defense budget.

Absolutely. I believe our government's spending is overly exaggerated, and cuts to our defense budget would probably be a good place to start. We can agree in regards to that.

With that said, Obama's plan makes even less sense to me. Raising taxes on the already struggling job creators won't help create jobs; which is what we need the most. And using those taxes for more things such as abortions and birth control? That won't create jobs; just more dependency.

I'm just mentioning that to show how Romney's plan isn't what people make it out to be. Yes, we totally need to cut spending. And he won't spend more on military like people think he is.
