What happened to liberals pushing gun control?

Because all on the left are not like fox teaches you M14?
How is this response relevant to the question I posed?

Was gun control not at one time a big political issue pushed by the left?
Is the argument behind the push for more gun control not sound?

If the argument is sound, why stop pushing it?

Yep the left could be more like the right and keep pushing things but never actually doing them?
If you cannot address the question, you're just wasting bandwith.

I support the right to arm Bears.
me, too
but I also support mandatory firearms education/training
kinda like cars.....
Anything and everything relatied to licenseing and registering a carand/or its driver has to do with regulating the use of that car on public property. None of it applies to actually owning the car or using it on public property.
So, if you want to treat guns like cars, I'm OK with it.

Liberals moved to big cities where we have control. Connies want to shoot it out..fine.

Have at it.

40,000 Americans die of gun shot wounds every year.

Should we ban cars?
Car Crash Stats: There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005. The financial cost of these crashes is more than 230 Billion dollars. 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes.

I

by the LEFT?
I guess.....

at least that is what the right keeps telling us....

gun CONTROL?
do you mean "gun control" like mandatory firearms training and registration?

cuz I still support MANDATORY firearms training and registration...

I SUPPORT the right of citizens to own firearms that they are TRAINED in the use of and have REGISTERED with their police departments.

"If the argument is sound, why stop pushing it?"

because the battle is just about over...

Yes, by the left.
Can you cite any gun control law, proposed or enacted, that seeks to further restrict the rgh to arms, proposed/championed/passed by a coservative?

I SUPPORT the right of citizens to own firearms that they are TRAINED in the use of and have REGISTERED with their police departments.
Ok... --Is-- that argument sound? Show this to be the case.
Mare sure you include how it squares with the Constitution.

because the battle is just about over...
Not sure what this is supposed to mean.

It's a type of slap in the face response that is suppose to mean they have almost won.

Oh I have nothuing against people being required to have training in the use of firearms. I would think thats how the founders who have liked it. But registering is out of the question.

I see...
so...in YOUR mind all liberals are leftists?

in REALITY;
some libs/people are left wing
but MOST libs/people are NOT left wing

liberals tend to be more reasonable than left wingers

absolutely....

you can find the section on constitutional gun control right next to the section on constitutional laws banning pot smoking....

"because the battle is just about over..."

"Not sure what this is supposed to mean."

MOST people are happy with BOTH
a. the right to own guns
and
2. control/education/registartion of firearms

and since MOST of us are happy with that COMPROMISE it isn't much of an issue anymore

Then -show- it to be sound.

Ok...
But that doesnt really explain why liberals that used to continually push for more gun control no longer do so - there's been no significant 'gain' in gun control since the Brady Act, yet even after that there were other significant pushes for more gun control. All of that stopped in 2000 or so. Given that there was no significant change in gun control laws since the Brady Act, is is impossible to argue that those that pushed those new controls were happy with the current laws.

Liberals moved to big cities where we have [gun] control...
...and most of the crime involving guns. GO figure.

So why arent you pushing for more gun control?

This blue collar Liberal has owned guns since I was 12 years old. And Eisenhower was President then. I own several hunting rifles, and some handguns. And have had to, on one occasion, use one of them is a very bad situation.

Do I think that there should be some gun control? Yes, after all, just what we need is readily available Thompsons for the gangs. However, after watching what happened with our Constitutional protections under Bush, including the 2nd Amendment, (remember New Orleans and Blackwater?), perhaps even having citizens with fully automatic twin 50s is not that bad. Should the Alaska Loon become President, we might all need some defence.

And, you might want to update your talking points.
Gun related deaths per year:
2007 31224 (last available)
2006 30896
2005 30694
2004 29569
etc...
WONDER Message

Why do we have so many gun related deaths, when nations like Switzerland and Canada, with more guns in the general population, have far fewer per capita?

We need to address that question.

Most of those gun deaths are suicides. How -do- you address that?

America is a violent country, and would remain a violent country even if all the guns suddenly disappeared.

What happened to liberals pushing gun control?

At one point, they pushed it rather strongly. Nowadays its hardly ever brought up.

If the anti-gun crowd is so right, if their argument is so sound – why pull back from the issue?

It is the NRA that relies on the liberals to periodically push some minor gun control legislation.

Without the "Libruls gunna take your guns away" mantra, the NRA would have zero fund raising
