What does it really mean if the GOP takes the Senate?

Nothing good ever comes from the government.

Security
Schools
Transportation infrastructure
Safe food and drugs
Sanitation and safe water
The Internet
GPS
Social security
Medicare
Obamacare
Social safety net

Agree with most of this in principle....however...the Government provides nothing. We the People Do. It is our money that pays for all that shit. Don't ever forget it. :)

The Government is of the people, by the people and for the people

Don't ever forget that

Exactly....the Government exists solely to serve the needs of the people....not the other way around. There is a very fine line between the idea of civil servant and civil master.

What does it really mean if the GOP takes the Senate?

Nothing.

Their majority will be too small to accomplish anything, and democrats will obstruct as did republicans.

Whatever republican nonsense might get through will be vetoed by the president.

And it would actually work to the benefit of democrats come 2016.

Why would you want both parties to NOT work together and believe it to be a good thing?

How is it remotely fair to have the Republicans in the minority and do NOTHING but obstruct and say "no" for 4 years and then Democrats suddenly become the minority party and they have to suddenly compromise?

It means nothing, both politically and in terms of legislation. There will be more votes to repeal the ACA but not much else.

It means the end of the Age of Obama, thankfully. It will also mean more investigations to the sleaze of this administration.

What is "The Age of Obama?" It's been more of the "Age of Mitch McConnell" from my point of view.

Of course. But, it all goes away when people allow themselves to be deluded that government does nothing good. And after the right get done raping and pillaging the US, nothing much would be good left of government.

Should McConnell become senate majority leader, he would have to govern instead of being the whiny bitch he is now.

What him and Boehner will do is pass one really retarded bill after another and then go out and be constant whiny bitches every time Obama doesn't go along with repealing his own healthcare law or signing off on his own impeachment.

They'll send him a bill that kicks poorer people off of their healthcare insurance and he'll veto.

They'll send him the most unworkable immigration bill the right can dream up and he'll veto.

They'll send him a bill increasing military spending by $50 billion a year (that's $500 billion over 10 years, according to the GOP platform) and he'll veto it because the GOP will only pay for the increase on the backs of working people, the poor and seniors.

We know exactly what we'll get if Boehner and McConnell are the heads of Congress. They'll only send Obama stuff that a Republican President would sign knowing full well Obama will veto it so they can further their point that Obama won't work with the Congress.

Doesn't take a fortune teller to predict what the GOP will be like if they control both legislative branches.

Hmm. So, if Congress passes a bunch of bills, and Obama doesn't like them and vetoes them, can we call Obama the "do nothing" president like the GOP has been called?

It means some legislation will finally get to the Presidents desk.

He can then choose what he will sign and what he will veto.

This is the thing that warms the hearts of Conservatives, that they have a good shot at taking the Senate this year if they can just keep their candidates from putting adjectives in front of the word "Rape".

Currently, RCP has the GOP picking up six seats, three of which they are only picking up because of retirements. but then you look at the populations of those states, and you wonder...

Montana - 1,015,165
South Dakota -844,877
Alaska - 735,132
West Virginia- 1,854,304
Arkansas 2,959,373
Louisiana - 4,625,470

So the Senate will be decided in six states, containing less than 12 million people, and the Conservatives will call this a "victory".
.

The republicans won the house with with a minority of the popular vote also. Why aren't they complain about these anti democratic travesties?
