What do hermits do --

Um, I play with my parrots alot. Or talk to/email other hermits. But I'm not your typical hermit

No hermit with any sense of pride would talk to another hermit. Now talking to animals or inamimate objects makes sense. Is it that hermits would just crap out from lonliness if they had no contact with something other than themselves ?

No, a true hermit has no problem not being around others. Only a few special people are equipped to be successful hermits
