What Capitalism has Done for the Common Man.

The question about alternatives was sincere and not a trick or anything.

I've used small c all my life and see nothing inherently wrong with it. I also see that uses of it have led to an untenable point in human history. I would be interested in alternatives in economics as in technology and politics. I intuit that we are in a new epoch as that when the renaissance evolved from medieval times. We need to consciously change things for the better or take it in the neck for allowing outdated thinking to destroy us.

capitalism is new communism is the old.

capitalism will trend toward socialism without fascism to shear less productive individuals from the constituency. From there I see it breaking down... leaving corporate communism or some kind of short-lived fascist capitalism. Just a hard truth which will come to the front of this 'new epoch' with time.

Here is some thoughtful response.

Hitler and Marx thought of this first.

I argued with a wannabe socialist grad student in Prague 2 years ago, his excuse for communism failing was because the western powers didn't help the USSR via trade....what a fucking joke. The USA and UK needed to help prop up the USSR for it to work.

He did admit for communism to work that everyone needs to be under its control, which is damning.

The moron didn't realize he was arguing with a guy that owns a BA in Economics and a MBA, so he was lost from the start.

Capitalism often serves to uplift and enrich the common man.

Capitalisism sometimes serves to do just the opposite, and markets can not be expected to properly allocate nonmarket goods. That's where government's role arises.

capitalism needs oversite and regualtions to keep it from degenerating into a monied few controling everything.

I don't think History has proven that success in life is a guarantee. The Government does not need to subsidize people with the wealth of others every time our nation hits a bump in the road.

And who exactly do you think should be doing the overseeing that wont abuse the power that they are entrusted with? Um... Ah... Well...um...

Nor did I make such a claim. How did you interpret my post to mean anything of the sort?

Prior to about 1750, Europeans lived at almost the same living standard for centuries. Two primary factors in the improved living standards of the developed world since 1775:

The development of advanced trading economies which allowed intense specialization
The discovery and exploitation of dense energy found in oil

Which was the larger factor?

The same human tendency to dominate and gain power works in all human systems, whether it be business, politics, religion or almost whatever have you.
So, the same people who would dominate a capitalist system would dominate the control of it. It is the same type of person.
Evidently, it is not by attacking the institution that victory can be achieved. Human psychology must evolve.

Can anyone name the nations of the world with a pure capitalist economy or those with a pure socialist economy? There may be some about?
Most economies are a mixture of socialism and capitalism, the question usually revolve about the amounts in the mixture.
If perchance there was a response to that question, I would then ask if anyone can name a nation that has practiced Marxian communism.

A perfect example of how socialism doesn't work that I told that dumbfuck socialist was when I was in Germany a local bar on Thursday nights had free American food to get beer drinkers in the door.

Well, they had chicken wings, nachos, tacos, etc but the cheeseburgers would be gobbled up quickly. I was standing in the line to get cheeseburgers once they brought them out and about 20 of them were gone after 8 people.

Hmmm, 8 people took 20 cheeseburgers. Yeah, they were FREE so they stole as many as they could grab before others behind them got to the plate. So when the Govt gives people FREE shit, they steal as much as they are allowed to steal before others get a chance.
